Alpha: Survival of the Fittest - Full Action RPG ![]() ==> Download Game - Alpha: sotf <== 66.4 MB (RTP Included) ![]() Spoiler: ![]() Spoiler: ![]() Spoiler: ![]() Spoiler: ![]() Spoiler: Special Thanks: Spoiler: Known Bugs: Spoiler: ![]() ==> Download Game - Alpha: sotf <== 66.4 MB (RTP Included) Hitchcock Games I appreciate any feedback! This is my first game released to the public, so I hope you enjoy it If you find errors in the game, please feel free to let me know. I have tested the game numerous times, trying to break my own code, and all I have found are a few very minor bugs that will not disrupt your gameplay experience, however I admit there may be some glitches I have missed. Please do not flood with comments like "I saw a hot pixel in the top corner for 2 seconds when so-and-so character turns left", I'm looking for fatal or game ruining bugs thanks. Very promising indeed, I'll give it a try now...
Hmm. Several things I'd like to note. Predator is spelled wrong. Humans. Wow. Not surprising how much damage they can do from a range, but it's kinda surreal that I can't do any damage in return close up. Can porcupines be hurt at all? Pack members cannot jump. A minor issue so far, but also makes quick getaways via jumping over objects difficult. I like the concept of the game, but I think the AI could use some work. Also, what do the different choices for AI type mean? I see 4, a sword, a shield, a lightning bolt, and a yellow circle. Sword and shield are obvious, but what about the other two? There seem to be some maps where the sniff function doesn't work. One example I've found so far is the farm to the west of Evershine Glades. Would be nice to know where the farmer is at all times while I ravage his livestock >.> Is there any way to remove pack members? I think there will be some occasions where I'd prefer to work alone. Moving between certain maps completely restores HP/AP. I hate jumping at Trueno Heights :/ There are some occasions where I'm in a map and my party and I are completely immune to damage. Not sure what triggers this. Also finally found a bug that caused my game to crash. The message is as follows: "Unable to find file Graphics/Characters/$GreyWolf1_idle_idle." What I did notice happening prior to this is that my wolf seemed to be stuck in the sitting and scratching himself position, even though I was moving around and attacking. Your fourth cub (Howler, I believe) doesn't get healed when going to the spirit water(whatever it's called, sorry) in the tundra. I didn't get a chance to see if it was all water or just that one place. BTW, fun game. Registered just to inform you of this bug.

This game looks great, I expect great things from this. (Particularly since I'm a big fan of Vampyr SBABS, not enough games are made with it.)

Wow! Thank you all for the comments and support
@AntarcticTiger: Thanks for pointing out the errors, here's some answers to your questions: 1. You're not really supposed to be taking on humans until the very end of the game...The farm is an excellent source of Meat early, but low exp...so long as you're willing to risk getting shot by the farmer. I removed the sniff ability for that map specifically so the player can't know the farmers location (although I admit there are a couple of other maps where the sniff skill is practically useless for other reasons) 2. You will need the Bark skill to kill porcupines 3. Pack members can't jump, it's true 4.The Lightning Bolt and Yellow Circle sets Attack and Recovery skills as their primary AI concern (however only Xerxes will ever learn such skills so those commands are generally useless lol) I recommend keeping it on Attack (sword) 5. I tried my damnedest to fix the map switch/recovery/immunity bug (all one bug actually), but I couldn't seem to ever find where the anomaly was coming from so I just left it in 6. No way to remove pack members other than getting them killed (I'd suggest the 'gators in the black marsh), however you can exchange pack members for one another once your group is full. Thank you for playing my game, and I'll add those bugs you found to the list. @Jakk43055: I somehow missed that one, good job finding that bug This post has been edited by HitchcockGames: Mar 4 2010, 05:55 AM -------------------- |

I played this, for about 40 minutes, until dying in Conch Cave after being sandwiched by two raccoons.
Short Review The game is pretty unique. It gives the player a good time out of the common save the world from the Big Bad game. Though, I must admit that this game reminded him of a certain map you could play on Warcraft III's Battle.net. For as far as the story goes, since I have only started playing, the only thing he could comment on was how the player attacked your own starving and insane father. Other than that, though, the game itself gave me a good feel, and the challenge factor is just right. It isn't too easy, nor is it insanely difficult. Good job. Some Bugs he has encountered: (Mostly Aesthetic) 1. Spring in the nearby forest removes the incapacitation status from your first cub, but its HP remains at 0. 2. Exiting menu while Maxx is still a puppy briefly shows the sprite of grown-up Maxx 3. Moving through some maps shows a clone of the hud while in map transition 4. When you attempt to bring your cub along for the first time, it shows the name "Fang" instead of the input name. 5. Cub could level up even when hp is 0. 6. Is the save point in the home cave the only save point? 7. How do lilies support a fully-grown wolf?
