I've played through your demo and i liked it but it did have alot of flaws. Some of them are flat out buzzkills.
Here's a small summary (+ : Positive
& - : Negative
)+ The Story
The story is somewhat engaging and i enjoyed the intro. It's rare to see a project with custom resources nowadays. I'm not german but i found that the "german" guy who started the whole war to be a bit insulting. But it made me think about Rucka Rucka Ali's song
Okay Germans started up World War I then they was like "Whoops my bad! "
We said it's okay then a couple years later, they start a world war again.
They killed like a million Jews and then they killed another five million.
I think we should take them all to school and just blow they ass up right now!
"Nein please don't blow us up! "
"But it was only a game! "
"But we won't do it anymore! "
You'll never eat a weinerschnitzel again!
Which is partly historically true. Do i need to say more
?- Super Massive Über Lag
The lag was truely massive on some maps and i really wonder why. You mentioned it at the "negative" but i have to say that it's really a huge buzzkill. I'm currently playing on my laptop and it lagged alot. I had to play with 5-10 FPS (!!!) when i usually can run Borderlands at 50+ FPS. I think one of the problems may be that you are using alot of unnessecary events. I found that you can only "jump" at specific locations (thus, uses alot of events.). Vlad has a script which enables jumping anywhere on the map and it's very customizable.+/- Gameplay
The gameplay has it's ups and downs. I would have enjoyed playing the game if it wasn't for the lag but what really bothered me the most was the sense of misguidance. I found myself many times lost and didn't know where to go. Especially at the beginning once you got your money from mom and went outside. The map was too dull and somewhat identical so it was hard to know where i was and where i was going. I ended up spending 10 mins wandering around the whole town (this includes the time delay due to poor FPS update). I hope you forgive me but i had to decrypt your game just to see where i had to go next to progress. I also found a small bug with the "sniper"-training session. Even though i was shooting directly at the mechs/robots, they remained unhurt. I was forced to shot on the tile right in front of them to take them out which i found very frustrating, unrealistic and uncalled for.+/- Battles
I've been using ABS ever since the first version for a very long time ago until recently so i know it's capabilities and it's flaws. Unfortuneatly, they do buzzkill the game. I totally respect that it's Vlads fault and there isn't much you can do about it but i found it very weird that even though i was just a few squares away shooting with my rifle on a hypersuited guy, he still walked around as if nothing happened (i was like: "what??"). The enemies are really dumb and walk around randomly and sometimes the battles just felt very repetitive, boring and dull. It could have been a huge bonus if you could add obstacles on the battlefields where you can go take cover and shoot and whereas enemies will be somewhat smarter (mess around with custom movement perhaps?). This project (click here) managed to make a fun battle right at the beginning due to obstacles. I found it very fun and useful to go behind a car for cover and then sit around the corner waiting for the enemy to pass by and pang, he's dead.+ Resources
I was amazed by the amount of resources. This really boosts up the gameplay.
I know it's still in development but all i can say is that this is a rough diamond. With proper polishing, this can turn into a great game but for now, it's mediocre/average. I'll keep an eye on this project though as i really want to know how it'll turn out
