Want to make a summon system like final fantasy 7? (no crazy animation, sorry)
Assuming you know a little bit of scripting and you know how to event...

1. first make/get a sprite of your summon.
2. make an actor out of it.
3. then make a skill called "Summon _____" and give it a common event called "Summon ____".

Im making my game with 3 players max to fight with, so yours might look different if you use 4 people max to fight with.
I made the summon into the 4th actor in battle.

This is what my common event looks like:

@>Change party member: Add __
@>Force action: Actor no.4 [Darkness], Random.
@>Change party member: Remove __
@>Wait 30 frame(s)


You can put any animation in there and whatever you think will beaf the summon up.

And this is what my tankentai side view script looks like:

I made the 4th actor position (the summon) infront of the middle person in the <ACTOR_POSITION> line.
I gave to skill to the person who would summon in my game, and so the person summons, the summon uses Darkness, and then dissapears. MP cost is up to you.
This may look like Jackrmesser's event tutorial, but his is for aeons (FFX) that you can keep using throughout the battle.

Looks good to use. Reminding me to summon a weak Chocobo in FFIII. lol
And this summoning system is pretty flexible too. Still has some capability add-on to add like random actions.

Hehe... The chocobos... Yea, this system can be used for more than just summoning. biggrin.gif

make sure the skill in the database doesnt do any damage, this will cause the character to do something.
Make sure the skills is connected to the common event with the summon stuff on it. This way, the common event has to finish for someone else to attack.

If that doesnt work, then in the skill itself in the database, give it a positive speed so that the summoner summons first, then the other people go.

Yea, with the sideview script, you can just add more positions with people.
of course you'll need a large party script like KGC's.
Just fix up positions and actor numbers and skills.

if you need anything else, just say so.

are you sure you have an actor of the summon in the database?
in the event, add the actor, force the actor to do a move, then remove...
if you still cant get it, show me some pictures of your database (actors and common events)

also check that you have a free 'slot' for the summoned creature. If already have the max members or have more than for but don't have a large party script it might not work.

Nice tut by th way. Very clear even to someone who's never actually made a game with sideview (though i have had a look at the script)

summoning is something we would all like, so once i figured something out, i wanted to share with others who would also like to summon. although it may not be the coolest, it is pretty simple and it works biggrin.gif
