 RED MANTLE WIPE!  Posts: 1,944 Type: Writer Alignment: Neutral Good  |
Sideshow of Horrors It has begun, folks, the Sideshow of Horrors, the contest where you are the freaks who will bring one such as myself something to showcase. Come one, come all, drop your hat in the ring and we'll sort out the best of the best, the spookiest of the spookiest. But first dear folks we have the rules, those who don't follow the rules may let themselves out of the back right now, for without rules it would just be a brawl, and noone wants that boys and girls. Rules 1. Your game must include characters based on members of the community, but may include original characters as well. 2. Your game must be horror/horror-camp (as in comedy, campiness, cheesiness)/halloween themed. 3. Your game must use one or more of the following scenarios: a. Big Party b. Carnival c. Camp (as in camping, at a camp) d. Road Trip 4. Your game must have 15~90 minutes of gametime. 5. Teams are not allowed to compete. All entries must be single member only. 6. All materials in game must be properly credited. Failure to credit will immediately disqualify your entry from the contest. 7. The game must be made using RPG Maker VX. Judging This contest wil be judged by a select panel of judges, selected for thier Halloween spirit, showmanship, and in some cases that wonderful corpselike smell. Dracula (Kav): It was not by his hand that he was once again given flesh. He was called here by humans, who wish to pay him tribute with rpg maker games. Sevithstein Monster (Sevith): He was built with the brain of Simon Cowell (we aren't sure what brain Simon has now) so be prepared to fend off his biting wit with fire and pitchforks. GrandmaDead (GrandmaDeb): She would be dying to play your games... if she wasn't already dead. Wereruri (Moururi): He doesn't award a silver prize, its gold or nothing. Carny Hubert (Touchfuzzy): Used to showcasing the wonders and freaks of all types, I am now here to judge yours. The glorious judges before you will rate each game on a scale of 1-10 on each of the following categories: Mapping: Overall use of tileset pieces, map layout, and ease of navigation. Events: Ease of event flow, event configuration, and absence of event lag. Dialog: Completeness of NPC dialog, cutscenes and overall interest of character options during interaction. Storyline: Interest of story, exclusion of plot holes, and overall continuity of plot events. Elements: Use of special effects, and specialty elements like parallaxes. Intangibles: For quantifying things that can't be quantified. Due Date All entries must be submitted before the stroke of midnight the night (11:59 PM or earlier) of October 25th Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-4) Prizes We would not expect you to do these things with no hope of recompense. The prizes are as follows 3RD PLACE: Sponsorship 2ND PLACE: Sponsorship, User Forum Grand Prize: Sponsorship, User Forum, $30 Gift Certificate to Amazon.com That's all for now ladies and gentleman... good rming and good luck. I think I'll participate, seems fun enough and doable for me, October is a slower month.

Those rules doomed all of my brainstorming (although I expected it) but I've instantly come up with a new, brilliant idea for my game! Moahaha!!
One question though, when it comes to the rule about members of the community: Does this mean that all characters must be members of the community or can you include characters on the side that aren't based of members? I'll need to know that before beginning my progress of my scary masterpiece!! -------------------- |
