Darkflame Games
Now looking for Beta Testers, Artists, and Scripters

What is Darkflame Games
Spoiler:

Darkflame Games is a small group of gamers and developers, headed up by zbdarkflame, to continue and work on various RMVX games, currently The Future of Stratos. It is our goal to be able to release games that will be enjoyed by all people, and be unique in the eye of the RMing community. Darkflame Games is designed to be a relaxed team and not very rushed. Each member uses his own talents to help in the creation of the game. Also, each member has a say in what the game will end up being. Since Future of Statos is designed to be multiple episodes, everyone will have equal input into the story.

Statement of Goals
Spoiler:

It is our goal to bring enjoyment into this world by sharing our skills as creators and working together to release games for enjoyment. We do not wish to make money on this, but instead take the kind comments and criticism as payment. It is our goal to work together, each member giving in the field that best suits them. Let the artist draw, let the storyteller weave a story, let the coder create new scripts, let the mapper draw the world, and let all ideas flow. It is our goal to help each other, and any who need it. It is our goal to create a quality product for all to enjoy.

Current Project
Spoiler:

The Current project which I am recruiting for is Future of Stratos. This project is a Sci-Fi game that is envisioned to be released in a series of short games, like a TV series. Although the actual number of games in the series has not been finalized, I expect 13 to be base number. That way it is like a half season in the world of television.

Among other things, the main focus of this game is on person relationships, and government conspiracy. Although I'd like to give the series an overall lighter theme, the game is defiantly going to get very dark at times. I'll see where it goes. wink.gif

I started this project because I don't have enough time to release 1 huge game, but I do have enough time to release multiple projects. I am really enjoying the project, but there are a few thing that I am unfortunately unable to do. This is where recruitment comes in. Below are the positions which I need filled. If you can do it, apply. That would make me very happy. Here is some more information on the project.

Story
Spoiler:

Stentson is the son of a successful ship builder, who has minor connections to ancient Mircandia, and the heir of the family business. But instead of taking his position as head of the family, Stentson left to join the Star Fleet under his long time friend Marylin, who is captain of the Star Ship Stratos. Because of his sudden departure from his family, Stentson's younger brother is now the head of the Stargazer family. There is constant tension between the two, and this hurts Stentson greatly as he truly loves his younger brother. There is also a little sister whom Stentson is very fond of. The reason Stentson left is unknown to all except Stentson himself and his father.

On the ship Stratos, Stentson works as a diplomatic officer. He has quickly become friends with the entire crew, especially the Technologies Officer Alestin. Stentson has found a new home, but the strings of his old home still hold him, and it pains him greatly, though no one seems to be able to tell, except maybe Marylin.

This series is the story of Stentson, and the Stratos. This is the story of their adventures in the outer reaches of the galaxy. This is the story of government conspiracy, treachery, friendship, and finding ones own place in the vast stretches of the universe.

Characters
Spoiler:

Name: Stentson Stargazer
Age: 26
Height: 72in.
Weight:164 lb.
Rank: Officer (Diplomatic)
Station: Star Ship Stratos
Bio:
Stentson is an outgoing person, and because of his level of education, has an understanding of all of the galaxy's major spoken languages. This has lead to Stentson becoming the Diplomatic Officer on the Stratos. Because of his mostly positive attitude everyone on the Stratos has become friends with him, especially the ships technologies officer, Alestin, who likes to tease the young officer. Of course, he is friends with the ships captain, Marylin, who has been a long time friend of Stentson.

Name: Marylin WolfNight
Age: 29
Height: 62in.
Weight:137 lb.
Rank: Captain (Stratos)
Station: Star Ship Stratos
Bio:
Merylin is a strong woman who has definite goals and ambitions. She quickly rose up the ranks of the Star Fleet, and became one of the youngest ever captains of a ship. She is a bit quiet, and very calculating. She enjoys teasing her crew, all of whom know that it is all in kindness. She strives to become an Admiral in the fleet, but resents her station in the Outer Reaches, where there is little action. She is a good friend to both Stentson and Alestin

Name: Alestin Freeman
Age: 32
Height: 74in.
Weight:173 lb.
Rank: Officer (Technologies)
Station: Star Ship Stratos
Bio:
Alestin is amazing with a computer. He can put out programs at near the speed of light. He is also highly intrigued with other types of technologies that are not used in the Star Fleet, especially the technologies of the Mircandian ships. He is a load person, and a bit stubborn. He has taken an interest in Stentson, partially because of his family ties. Alestin is not lucky with money, and also has a habit of drinking a bit too much when offered alcohol.

Positions Needed
Spoiler:

Beta Testers
Spoiler:

===The Position===
Spoiler:

Beta Testers: 1-2 people needed (Maybe 3)
This positions is for beta testers, aka, the Beta Boys. Those who take this position will become official beta boys, and will be first to play any demo released by Darkflame Games. But, with that privilege comes great responsibility. All Beta Testers are required to play the whole demo all the way through, and test all parts of the game. These are some expectations of Beta Testers.
  1. Play all the way through and do so within a reasonable amount of time after the demo release
  2. Testing for bugs: Try your hardest to make a bug happen
  3. Architecture issues: Are there any apparent issues with either music or mapping
  4. Testing battles: Are battles balanced? Are there too few or too many Battles
  5. Grammar: Look and find any grammatical or spelling errors
  6. Giving Suggestions and Opinions: This is the most important. Please tell me what you think. Don't be afraid to voice your opinion.
  7. Weird Stuff: anything that you think may need some looking into.

===Application===
Spoiler:

To apply, post in this topic with the following information:

Name: your forum name
Experience with RMVX: This is to give me an idea as to how much you know about the workings of RMVX
Why you wish to be a beta tester:
How can you give back to this game by becoming a beta tester:
Grammar Skills: How much of a grammar Nazi are you?
Other reviewing experience: This is optional

===Perks===
Spoiler:

As a beta tester, you will be able to have first goes at the newest release. Also, since Beta Testers work with the game so often, you will be able to have some of the greatest influence in the actual game creation. Lastly, you get to be part of a close team, and through an experience like this you may be able to learn something.

===Contact===
Spoiler:

Contact

We will be able to communicate through a specific staff forum meant for the Beta Boys in my personal forums. Please only post reviews and beta notes there. We can also use that forum for general communications, questions, and discussion.

Artist
Spoiler:

===The Position===
Spoiler:

Artist: 1 person needed (maybe 2)?
As the artist, you will be required to draw some of the artwork for the game. Artists who apply for the job should probably have a good understanding of Photoshop, or a similar program. Also, the style of the game would want to be a slightly darker futuristic feel. Artists will have access to early releases of games, and have the ability to give your input in the project. These are some of the expectations of artists.
  1. Have a good understanding of Photoshop or a similar program.
  2. Have a good understanding of the basics of RMVX.
  3. Be able to create abstract Sci-Fi title screens and images.
  4. Edit and manipulate existing images. (Such as editing a faceset)
  5. Be able to create the artwork in a decent amount of time (aka. not a month for a single face)
  6. Be able to work in a group.

Here are some things that I hope an artist might create. I understand that you may not be able to perform all of these tasks, that's all right. These are just some of the ideas that are running through my mind, and some I can already find on my own. I don't expect anyone to be able to do all of this, again, this is just a list of almost every artistic job I could think of. The really important jobs for the game have a ">>>" in front of it.

There is just one thing I'd like to say. Although this is more for eye-candy, I really want to draw certain scenes instead of just using the map and sprites. I have two in mind already. If you can draw full, single frame, scenes that would be awesome. Again, this is an eye-candy thing, but something I'm really looking at possible doing.
  1. >>>Be able to create title screens that have an abstract and futuristic feeling, but have something to do with the current episode.
  2. >>>Draw facesets for preexisting sprites
  3. >>Can draw full body pictures of characters
  4. >>Game Graphics (aka, pictures for certain things, such as a custom title screen)
  5. Icons
  6. Be able to sprite in "Mack" style
  7. Can create animations
  8. >Can draw scenes from the game, aka, a still shot for part of a scene to add dramatic emphasis.
  9. >Can draw futuristic battlers
  10. >>>Can compile and align correctly tiles.
  11. Can actually create futuristic tiles.

===Application===
Spoiler:

To apply, post in this topic with the following information:

Name: your forum name
Experience with RMVX: not the most important thing
Experience as an artist:
Examples of work: just something to give me an idea of your style and ability
What artistic roles can you do: Tell me what things you can create. Look at the list from the Position section of the artist recruitment.
Why you wish to be an artist:
How can you give back to this game by becoming an artist:

===Perks===
Spoiler:

Since I know the hard work that goes into creating a work of art, artists will be given some special privileges that others may not have.
For one, Artists will be given early access to games, before the general public and be able to give feedback.

Also, artists will be given a section of there own in my personal forum for their own use. Just tell me what you want to use it for, and I'll create it. This is good for making a showcase of personal works, or creating a section for your games.

Lastly, I will offer up my mapping or animation making skills to a project the artist may be working on.

RGSS2 Scripter
Spoiler:

===The Position===
Spoiler:

Scripter: 1 Person
The scripter is the one position which I'm not sure of all the details. Mostly the Scripter needs to have enough experience with RGSS2 to be able to script a large variety of things. Some of the things that come to mind right off the bat are small battle addons, title screen addons, and other smaller snippets. As a scripter, I would also give you the freedom to come up with ideas for scripts based on what you see. Here are some basic expectations.
  1. Have an understanding of RGSS2
  2. Have an understanding of RMVX
  3. Be able to create clean and efficient code that is easily customizable and easy to understand
  4. Be able to create code in a decent amount of time. (Obviously differs by type of thing)
  5. Be able to edit other scripts for minor changes.
  6. Work well in a group

===Application===
Spoiler:

To apply, post in this topic with the following information:

Name: your forum name
Experience with RMVX: not the most important thing
Experience as a scripter:
Examples of work: if applicable
Can you Script The Learn Skill by Scanning Script:
What is your scripting specialty:
Why you wish to be a Scripter:

I'll also do some maps for you in your own person projects and/or animations.

Authors Note
(Important information inside so do read!)
Spoiler:

I thank anyone who applies and I will greatly appreciate your help. Sorry about if the recruitment look intimidating and wordy. It's just that I like to be thorough and make sure that I make every thing clear.

I do not have the means to pay you in money. I am not doing this project for monetary gains. This is not a commercial game! I'm doing this project because I want to give something to the RMing community that they will enjoy greatly. My payment is complements and critique. As such, there is no exchange of money. I have already stated that I can do some maps or animations for artists and scripters, but that is all. It is my hope that the enjoyment of working on this game will be payment enough.

I may, before I make an official choice, ask you some questions in a PM, such as "Could you draw X or Y." This will happen if I'm unsure as to whom I wish to recruit.

Artists and Scripters have the added ability to dictate whether they wish their material to be open source or only for this project.

I will have the final say in who I accept. You will receive a PM if you have been accepted. I will announce in the topic that the position has been filled. When you are accepted you will be given instructions as to how to become a member of my forums, and how to become a staffer.

Again, thanks for reading this topic, and please apply for a position.

Let me start off by saying I was quite impressed by the tech demo for this when I first tried it a couple weeks back. I should mention that I am also the scripter for another project and depending on whether or not he needs me to script more in the near future, I may have to temporarily slow down my work on this project. Anyhow, I can offer all the help I can; here's my application:

Name: Miget man12; I'm also on RRR, as you may or may not know happy.gif

Experience with RMVX: I've had it since late 2007(I think, might be wrong) and gotten more experienced with it constantly. I've made a bunch of horrible games that will forever sit on this computer's nearly full hard drive (getting a new computer for my birthday on Tuesday!), but they did help me learn what makes a good game and what my strongest game making abilities are: Scripting, Eventing(simple scripting, in a sense), and I like to think I'm getting fairly decent at mapping wink.gif

Experience as a scripter: I began learning how to script in January or February this year, starting with simple stuff and eventually joining twilight1307's The Legend of Zelda: Realm of the Gods; that's where I got most of my practice with Ruby//RGSS2. I generally skulk around the RGSS2 support and request sections on RRR nowadays, though I still make scripts and fix bugs for RotG when needed, with the occasional public script posted on RRR or rmrk.net .

Examples of work: Scripts I've made:
Simple Footsteps Script
More-That-Usually Graphical Title Screen
Background Messages
Simple To Use Fogs
Collection of Mini-Scripts
The game that I work/have worked on; The Legend of Zelda: Realm of the Gods:
http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=12760
http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index....showtopic=29997
You can also check the RGSS2 Script Requests and RGSS2 Script Support sections on RRR

Can you Script The Learn Skill by Scanning Script: I will get to work on that tomorrow. I'm tired happy.gif Seems very doable, though.

What is your scripting specialty: Specialty? I guess I would say menus or map modifications... I'm horrible with windows though wink.gif

Why you wish to be a Scripter: Like for this project? Well, I like the story, I love sci-fi stuff in general, and you seem like a very talented person, and therefore good to work with wink.gif (please don't interpret this as me being a kiss-up). Some games fit with modified systems more than others.

How can you give back to this game by becoming a scripter: well... fix bugs, write scripts, etc.
you know... scripting stuff:D I can also offer minor help with eventing and *maybe* mapping. I'm also pretty good when it comes to grammar and such, so if you want me to proofread anything, I'd be happy to!

Hopefully you can consider me wink.gif

EDIT: Also, I've always found it easier to discuss scripts via some sort of messenger, if that works for you

Hello all,

I'm actually surprised that an artist and a scripter posted here before someone wishing to become a beta tester. That's a good thing. Thank you for posting your applications. Both of you are very much under consideration, meaning you guys are likely to get the job. I'm going to keep applications going for a couple more days, till Tuesday or Wednesday though. I'll PM you guys then. Again, I'm glad to be able to see people with such talent post here. Thanks!

I'm sure we'll be talking in the near future.

@Midget Man 12: I do have AIM, its just I never use it tongue.gif But yeah, messenger talk is an option.

Yeah, unfortunately scripters are pretty hard to come by, ones that don't already have a project they're working on, anyway. Also, you may consider posting on the RRR recruitment boards, I know you have a game topic already on RRR. RRR seems to be quite a bit more active than this site... I may be wrong though! happy.gif

Haha, yes, you're completely wrong. Check the record for users online here vs RRR. Check the alexa ranking of rpgmakervx.net vs rpgrevolution.com. Rpgmakervx.net wins both times. Not to mention the users online here is almost always higher than at RRR. We also have many excellent scripters here (such as Mr Anonymous, Mithran, Biged).

Plus we have the amazing Pine biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Oh, well the recruitment + project development boards seem to be more active on RRR, but I really spend most of my time there or in the scripts section, so I guess I wouldn't know about the rest happy.gif I don't really post as many scripts here, I'm not sure why. I kind of like RRR's appearance better wink.gif not to be rude. Also, a lot of the big scripters here or on RRR either (A) already have a project they're working on, or (cool.gif don't want to join a project/are too busy.

I'm interested in the project, here are my "credentials": My main site, a stalled project and my blog. I like the look of what you have here, and I am sure I can offer my services. I would like to note that while I can get busy, I also work somewhat quickly.

Wow, ZPU, I never even thought you might be interested! That's great. Thanks.

Okay guys, here's the thing. I'm currently sick and this week is being really bad work wise. School is really busy right now, and literally 20% of it is out sick. Thank goodness I've not gotten some of the nasty bugs that have been traveling (including some possible H1N1 cases). Even so, this week is busy and I need rest desperately. So, until Saturday I'm probably not going to be appearing here for more than a few minutes at a time.

That being said. I would like to say that Midget Man, Kyrie Notatio, and ZPU, all are on the team. I'll PM you guys a little later in the week with some details. Thank you all for your interest and I hope that working with you will turn out some awesome stuff. Again, I'll keep you posted. Now, to work.

Ah, I hope you get better soon! I was sick a couple weeks back, awful :\. Anyhow, glad to hear that I've been accepted and I look forward to working with you, Kyrie, and ZPU/fandaxu(I still don't get why all the mods/old mods changed their names...). I love all the graphics from ZPU's warehouse posted on your blog, and I can imagine what sort of graphics you'll make for this game! Should turn out well! Also, zbdarkflame, if you could, I'd prefer that you pm me on RRR, as I'm a lot more active there and I'll notice it sooner.

In other news, I'm getting a new lap top(just turned 14 yesterday!), so you wont have to put up with the computer I've been using's horrible freezing every minute or so and overall slowness (256mb ram to 3GB:D). Also, this gives me a little more time to move all my stuff over to it happy.gif

Hope ya feel better soon,

QUOTE (zbdarkflame @ Oct 21 2009, 05:28 PM) *

Make sure you be pretty specific about what you want, although I can see that you are already using some of my stuff (which makes it easier to gauge what you are looking for). Use as many pictorial references (or existing sprites that are similar) as you can, this makes it easier on me (and most anyone) to understand what you are looking for. My IMs are listed in my profile if you need a more direct way to contact me.

Hey, can I be a beta tester? I'm really nitpicky, so I guess that'll help. Though since I'm not a native english speaker (I'm selfthaught cool.gif ) , you might need someone else to spellcheck for you...
Here's a sample of my work tongue.gif
Also, I apologize if this seems harsh (it wasn't my intention), if it sounded like I wanted to change your history or if I was exagerately detailed, I can cut some stuff of the next piece of feedback, if you want to.
Spoiler:

- You're using and old version of Neo message system (the newest one is 3). I don't know if any other of your scripts are outdated, but if I were you I would give it a look.
- Why is load called open?
- Star forces is such a generic name...unless, they DO have a name, and Stentson is just taking that name for granted since obviously Marylin knows it...?
- Aggh! Ylva Marylin is creepy! ohmy.gif
- Lovin' the music smile.gif
- "Break my ties with my family"? I think a "the ties" here would sound less redundant.
- "...this is my way of doing it", seriously: third "my" in one page of dialogue.
- I know it's exposition and all; but why would Stentson wait until he has gotten into the ship to ask the reason nobody scanned it for lifesigns?
- Hmm, I don't mind them, but a lot of players don't like it when games highlight key terms. Personally, I just see it as unnecesary visual aid.
- "Wouldn't that be a lot easier" is missing a ? sign.
- That bizarre line in the dialogue window background is really annoying me. Everytime I look at it, I instinctively think there's going to be text right above it, when the closest one is actually below it.
- I know it's a good idea to repeat key terms so the player will remember them (better than highlighting them at least tongue.gif) But, aren't you exagerating a little? They say that their ship is called Stratos at least three or four times on that dialogue.
- The "....Why me." line is also missing an ?
- Awesome menu background. smile.gif
- There's a lot of empty space between the different item/skills categories, making it look kind of messy.
This is just an advice, but you could try to use the spacebar to "center" the category names, that way all of them woud be at approximately the same distance (For example " all") It doesn't look perfect, though. Here's an example from my game:
Spoiler:

- Are the status icons placeholders?Because a lot of them don't make much sense, the sword icon, for example (or particularly that one, to be honest).
- Well, you obviously know this, but I can't help it; I have to mention it: it's really distracting that the different options on the status menu take you to different places when closed (you know, some go back to the status screen, others to the main menu and others close the menu altogether).
- I've never seen someone using the equipment points system, let's see how it goes...
- In the radar dialogue, you have a "Well,(change of page)Maybe,...."
- That radar is going to give me a seizure: there's too much blinking and it's very slow. As a completionist I'll try to use this on every floor tile, but I believe I won't be able to stand that flashing for long...Also, you can walk right after using it, and then, the message won't display until you've moved to the next tile. You might want to stop player movement until the text has displayed.
- "There is nothing else here...?"is it a one item per map thing? The explanation is kind of misleading, then.
- You don't get a "There's no items here." message if you go back and use it on the first map, also: kill that flash.
- I just fought a Guard bot and lost over half of my HP fighting it, I think it might have too much health....or maybe it's a bad idea giving it criticals?It landed two on me. sad.gif
- Also, I got a revive item as a drop, which is pretty useless for a solo part of the game (You named it holy water? Seriously? Not very sc-fi ish tongue.gif)
- Talking about items, since Stentson is getting into an unknown and possibly hostile territory...Shouldn't he be equipped with some sort of medikits? God knows I need them. Besides it makes sense he'll be prepared for the worst...
- (When checking the bookcases)' "Quarks and other particles" I was never very goood -a-(you meant "at", I guess) physics.'
- The wooden tables look a little out of place.
- Aside from the fact that "An enemy from the people" is a very strange name(is it inspired in something from reality?), Stentson says "I remember that play -in- (from?) -hgh- (high, obviously) school."
- Thank god for auto healing at level up. Also, it looks kind of silly to have the default level up screen showing up on the background, when in front it's Big ed's (I believe) one. Maybe you could ask for someone to make a script that eliminates it?
- I just saw the the vending machines: good idea. Though it's odd that they're operational, and their contents haven't gotten spoiled, then again: it's the future, they must have amazing ways of preserve food, hehe. By the way, I think a player that doesn't check everything, might have overlooked them completely, Stentson should point us to them.
- I was thinking...the books are in english. Is this an "everyone speaks english" future setting, foreshadowing, or just an excuse so you could add the nigel and pineda jokes?tongue.gif
- Guard bot is fricking broken, he can not only stun you, but also paralyze you? I could only watch helplessly as he crushed Stentson, luckily I had just saved smile.gif Once again, while it's shiny enough it might be a good idea to point the player towards the save point.
- My first first aid kit, yay!I really believe it should be a more common drop. Specially keeping in mind that Warbot Guard bot can dish 70-100+ damage with one of his very common critical hits, then again I might have been very unlucky tongue.gif
- I like how your healing items work.
- Why is each word of First Aid Kit (in the item description) all starting with caps?
- I guess the radar is in test phase still, since I didn't got "the no items here" message on the screen left of the entrance, either.
- (Above the previous screen)"...are without life support. I hope i'm -no where-(nowhere) near -on-(one) of those sections."..also the message only appears when you check the left side of the screen.
- That door to the right looked usable, is it only decoration? I think it's a bad idea to have places that look like passageways, but actually aren't: it frustrates the player.
- (Below the screen left of the entrance) Since you seem to be showing the outside of the ship to the right, shouldn't there be wall tiles along with roof tiles?
- (Mindscrew zone)"Where the hell is this place? This place couldn't...."captain redundace to the rescue! smile.gif
- The background is awesome...obviously.
- Defense droids' Castle wall (aside from being a cool and strange skill name) is way too powerful. After using it, I was doing 17 hp damage to it. After that battle, I leveled up again, and (I've seen this happen on other projects: it IS Big ed's script) I got his error:

Maybe you should ask Big ed, I think he made, not long ago, in the rgss section a topic about overcoming stack level errors (and this script is a little old). Or just use Yanfly's level up...

To be continued. wink.gif

I hope it wasn't too much...
Application:
Name: Saekonungar
Experience with RMVX: I've mapped a little, made some relatively complex events, and tinkered with several scripts, but not THAT much to be honest.
Why you wish to be a beta tester: Uh...I'd like to contribute with this project since I find it to be very interesting ...and enjoy complaining about games?tongue.gif
How can you give back to this game by becoming a beta tester: Huh?You mean how much time I can give to beta testing?Right now, a lot.
Grammar Skills: Fair, I believe. Though I would be a huge grammar nazi if my english was better.
Other reviewing experience: You meant if I've beta-tested before?Then, the answer is no. If you mean you want to see other feedback I've given it's pretty similar to the one above. (but less detailed)
Since you value grammar/story input so much, I'll understand if you turn me down. Good luck with the project, in any case. smile.gif

Wow...thank you so much. You can never give enought criticizm. I haven't had a chance to read through everything yet, I'll do that when I get home, but thank you very much for all of that. Like I said, don't worry, you can never be too critical or harsh. I'll send a PM later. Thanks again! laugh.gif

PS. I'm now curious about the script error...I've never seen that one before.

You know, you should actually read the feedback before actually thanking me for it; you don't really know if it'll be useful or not tongue.gif
With that said: a little (very little) more feedback: until I died again. sad.gif
Spoiler:

(Back on mindscrew zone the spacefold)
- The scrolling between areas is still too slow.
- I forgot to mention last time....I feel the battle screen is too crowded with bars. The overdrive one, particularly feels out of place, you know, being in top of stentson's head and all (can't it be moved below?)
- I insist in saying that there should be less costly skills. I don't know about you, but I enjoy using my skills often. They don't have to be game breaking, and besides, if the player can use skills often, then you can make thougher enemies, with more varied skills....just sayin'.
- Aggh once again (like in my first playthrough of the older demo), I took the first teleporter I saw, midway through, and ended up on that misterious room with the tubes and computers, which means I have to go through the whole fold space again, to pick the path I left behind on its right. While I see how convenient a quick return path is, the fact that it isn't clearly labeled as such, turns it into a cheap newb trap instead of a shortcut.
- Related to that point, when the teleporter takes you back to the beginning, you sort of start wondering where you are until you get your bearings. I once read a mapping tutorial that highlighted the importance of landmarks, it doesn't have to be anything big, but maybe a differently colored teleporter (or floor) tile would be enough to make the player instantly realize they are back at the beginning.
- "The tank is broken. I wonder what was in there before it broke"- redundace redux
- "This computer is corrupted. I can't read a word of it" (shouldn't it be "in it"?) Also, you only get the message if you check the computer's upper part, on the lower one (it's two tiles wide) it gives you no message whatsoever.
- I got poisoned by a robot bee...no poison healing on sight...Death is not a hunter unbeknowst to it's prey. And since I haven't found any save point...it's back to the first save point again :S

Ok, I just received your PM, but I had also just finished typing, so might as well post it (lazy me), it's just a few lines long, though. I'll continue playing in a bit.
And thanks, I hope you find some of my inane rambling useful smile.gif

Okay, this project, after reading through it, has inspired me to join your team as a Beta Tester. Please read my application carefully.

Name: Henry

Experience with RMVX: Well, I have been using RPG Maker VX for just about over a year now and I'm pretty experienced in the program. I am able to use all the features and functions of what the program has to give and I enjoy using and working with the RPG Maker series.

Why you wish to be a beta tester: Because this project has inspired me and I wish to also help out. I've got plenty of time on my hands so I'll be able to test your game quite often. I also wish to be a Beta Tester because I enjoy testing and reviewing games and I'm good at looking out for bugs and mistakes made in the project.

How can you give back to this game by becoming a beta tester: Well, each time I play the game, I'll write down what went well and what stuff needed improvement or fixing. I'll do this in a detailed but easy-to-read way. I'll play the game throughly, making sure I do everything and go everywhere that I could possibly go and test out every single event if I have to.

Grammar Skills: I hate to say it, but I've got 99.9% grammar accuracy most of the times. I'll be able to recognise spelling and grammar mistakes in the game quite easily if they are made. So yeah, I have very good grammar skills.

I hope you consider me onto your team. smile.gif

Regards,
Henry

EDIT: If you need to contact me through MSN messenger, then feel free to PM me for my email address.

Darkflame Games
Now looking for Beta Testers, Artists, and Scripters

What is Darkflame Games
<div style="margin-top:5px"><div class="quotetitle">Spoiler: <input type="button" value="Show" style="width:45px;font-size:10px;margin:0px;padding:0px;" onclick="if (this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display != '') { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = ''; this.innerText = ''; this.value = 'Hide'; } else { this.parentNode.parentNode.getElementsByTagName('div')[1].getElementsByTagName('div')[0].style.display = 'none'; this.innerText = ''; this.value = 'Show'; }" />
<div class="quotecontent"><div style="display: none;">
Darkflame Games is a small group of gamers and developers, headed up by zbdarkflame, to continue and work on various RMVX games, currently The Future of Stratos. It is our goal to be able to release games that will be enjoyed by all people, and be unique in the eye of the RMing community. Darkflame Games is designed to be a relaxed team and not very rushed. Each member uses his own talents to help in the creation of the game. Also, each member has a say in what the game will end up being. Since Future of Statos is designed to be multiple episodes, everyone will have equal input into the story.
</div></div></div>

Spoiler:

===The Position===

===Application===

===Perks===
Spoiler:

As a beta tester, you will be able to have first goes at the newest release. Also, since Beta Testers work with the game so often, you will be able to have some of the greatest influence in the actual game creation. Lastly, you get to be part of a close team, and through an experience like this you may be able to learn something.

===Contact===

Artist
Spoiler:

===The Position===

===Application===

===Perks===

===Contact===
Spoiler:

We can contact each other through the use of the staff forums on my personal forums. PMs are also an option, as is in other topics within the board.

RGSS2 Scripter
Spoiler:

===The Position===

===Perks===
Spoiler:

Since I know the hard work that goes into creating code, scripters will be given some special privileges that others may not have.

For one, Scripters will be given early access to games, before the general public and be able to give feedback.

Also, scripters will be given a section of there own in my own forum for their own use. Just tell me what you want to use it for, and I'll create it. This is good for making a showcase of personal works, or creating a section for your games.

I'll also do some maps for you in your own person projects and/or animations.

===Contact===
Spoiler:

We can contact each other through the use of the staff forums on my personal forums. PMs are also an option, as is in other topics within the board.
