Thunder Storm After looking around a bit I realised that there were no thuder storms.....and the storm allready programed into VX was just sideways rain......so I made one myself. This tutorial is set up in to easy one by one steps just to make it that little bit easier. 1.Where theres thunder there is rain..... To begin create a new event and make it "parralell process" and "Below Character" then place a Strom power 9...but this totaly optional because you dont acctually need the rain for the thunder to work. To add a storm just go to tab 2 in you events menu and it is under "picture and weather". once you are in there you just choose what weather you want.....preferably Rain or Storm.....and set its power to what ever you want (anything above 5 in recomended by me)
Weather_effects.jpg ( 23.16K )
Number of downloads: 3762. Lightning=Bright....right??? Now create a new event with the same properties as the rain (parralell and Below Character) This one is for the thunder. To begin with we are putting in the flash of the lightning. to do this you will need to go to Tab 2 and click on "Flash Screen". Now with this menu that pops up choose a colour to make you lightning (probably yellow or bright blue)...To make yellow turn you blue to 0 and red to 255 and green about 204...make sure you lower the strength a bit too so the colour is a tad transperent...... You will also need to untick the "wait for completion box and increase the time to about 90. ( this means the colour will appear and it will take 90 frame to dissapear)....once again you can fine tune your timing and colour.
Flash.jpg ( 31.05K )
Number of downloads: 2793.Now for theDecibels!!! This bit took me while........In this ste we are adding the monserouse clap of the thunder.......The SE's I chose to be my thunder were "Thunder 9" and "Thunder 10"....Make sure you put Thunder 10 first because that the Sharp strike of the thunder and Thunder 9 is the rumbling after math.....You can find the play SE under the 2nd tab under "Music and Sounds"......Duh
Thunder_SE.jpg ( 37.16K )
Number of downloads: 220Now test you thunder out and see if you can see any bugs....... 3. Waiting........ hmmmm if you cant see or hear that then you are quiet weird.....to stop the constant yellow and blur of noise add a "wait" at the begining your event. I insetrted a 600 frame wait at the beginigng, therefor the thunder only occurs every 10 seconds.... 4.(optional)Shaking in your boots You can also add a "shake Screen" for added effect.....To do this you will need to go to Tab 2 and find :"shake Screen under the Screen effects subtitle....just tweak the settings a bit to suite you likings.....
Shaking.jpg ( 21.19K )
Number of downloads: 1585. Vola Well there you have it you have a perfectly good Thunder Storm.....the finished event should look something like this:
Finished_Product.jpg ( 112.89K )
Number of downloads: 416This is my first Tut so please leave some feed back and tell me where I can improve in this event. -------------------- |

Yes it is usefull^^ not really for me but for some other VX or even RM Starters
it could be a good help. For example when I started doing this I had to handle this by myself and it can be very annoying if you don't know a thing^^ -------------------- |

Don't call people weird if they have a problem with your tutorial. It's not nice.

Why do I need to credit if this is already in the game?
Its like trying to label the sound effects your own! This post has been edited by nethros: Mar 14 2010, 11:19 PM -------------------- |

I found this useful. ^-^
I haven't used it yet, but I know that a lot of games would make good use of this. |

Hey!
This was exactly what I needed for my game. Very simple, yet brings out alot with the storm effect. Good tutorial. -------------------- |

As handy as this is, there is actually a custom weather script I saw a while back (I've still got it somewhere) with a thunderstorm setting, does everything this eventing does for you (surprisingly, it doesn't lag at all too).

I was going to post a tutorial for this as I thought I was so clever doing this without any scripts... good thing I searched to see if anyone else had done it already. (Being new and all I suppose, it is no surprise...
I did something similar to this but only used one, instead of multiple events. I simply use it as a common event (since I will be using it on multiple maps). I did some things a bit different though, such as varied up the volume of the thunder 10 and the time between "lightning strikes" to make it feel more real. See my screen shot below for what I did to "spice it up". I put the volume of the first thunder 10 to normal (80%), the second to max (100%), and the third to one click below (90%). Good stuff! As stated, I am new to the community so I am SURE there are things I did wrong/inefficiently, but figured I would provide my take on things to possibly add my $.02 to the tut...
