WINGS OF REBIRTH

On a remote island... in the middle of the ocean...

For Five Hundred years the Village of Cal has been under the protection of the Infinity
Dragon... But when a mysterious boy is washed ashore not far from the village, this balance
becomes broken. The Dragon comes to the village, demanding a sacrifice to be made or the
village will feel its fury.

When your father leaves to speak to the Dragon in person but does not return, As a
Beastmaster in training it is left to you to discover what has caused the Dragon to act so
aggressively, just who this mysterious boy is and your father's whereabouts.

Characters:
Spoiler:

Skye

Age: 13
The protagonist of the story and a Beastmaster in training. Though she has an impatient
attitude she is loyal to her father and his training. She can easily befriend newborn Beasts
and use them to fight for her, having no battle skills of her own.

Isu

Age: 14
A mysterious boy who washed ashore one day. His memories kinda hazy so nobody know's where he
came from, not even himself. Being the only one to talk to him like a friend, he latches onto
Skye and begins to follow her around as much as he can.

Garret

Age: 38
The current Beastmaster of Cal Village. Being the only one who can explore the island safely
he is rather important to the villages existence. When he goes to speak to the Infinity
Dragon he does not return, throwing the village into a panic.

Beasts:
Spoiler:

Ancients:
Base form: Statuer
Ancients are the oldest of all Beasts. Unlike Undead they have not only existed, but lived for
thousands upon thousands of years. They include such Beasts as Monolith and Isis.

Angelica:
Base form: Cherub
Beast's of pure light. Legends of angels sent by god may have descended from these beings.
As a whole they are primarily female and include such Beasts as Paladin and White Crown.

Animilistic:
Base form: Lupine
Simple creatures who rely purely on instinct to survive. They are very loyal and make good
companions. It's not uncommon for Animilistic Beasts to be domesticated by those who are not
Beastmasters. They include such Beasts as Prime and Brutus.

Aquati:
Base form: Starry
Of close relation to Animilistic Beasts. Aquati Beasts thrive in and around water. This
includes Beasts such as Sahagin and Hydra.

Avian:
Base form: Hawker
Winged Beasts who excel at speed and evasion. They are exceptionally brave. Examples of Avian
Beasts are Wibit and Harpy.

Crawler:
Base form: Hercules
Small creatures that are highly effective at inflicting status effects and the like. They
aren't a paticularly well-liked breed however. Scorpio's and Viper's are examples of Crawler
Beasts.

Demonica:
Base form: Demon Head
The polar opposite of Angelica Beasts. They are bitter rivals. They are a rather varied breed.
Some excelling at magic, others at melee. They include such Beasts as Sleipnir and Abaddon.

Drake:
Base form: Dragons Egg
A rare and powerful breed. Fafnir and Ouroborous are some of the few documented Beasts of this
Breed.

Flora:
Base form: Sprout
A very simple breed of Beasts. Though they fear fire they are powerful magicians. Mandragora
and Tangle Vines are examples of this breed.

Ghoul:
Base form: Lil Reaper
Loosely related to Undead. This breed consist of Beasts simalar to ghosts and poltergiests.
Who possess objects to gain physical form. Beasts such as Bad Luck and Toy Doll fall under
this odd and complex breed.

Gigan:
Base form: Ogre
Gigans are typically humanoid creatures, however they are noticeably larger than most
creatures. Beasts such as Yeti and Golem are of the Gigan breed.

Gobbo:
Base form: Gobsoldier
A curious and bizarre breed. Though all technically the same Beast, diffirent Gobbo's seem to
be bred for specific roles. Such as Gobcaster or Gobrider. They are surprisingly intelligent
if lacking common sense and are capable of human speech.

Mythic:
Base form: Pixie
A breed with a large variety. Mythics are typically the origin of many legends so it comes to
a surprise to many to learn of their existence. However they are exceptionally rare so this
isn't a common occurance. Mermaids and Centaurs fall under this breed.

Slimey:
Base form: Smile
The most basic of all Breeds, having little or no brains is both beneficial and a drawback.
Beasts such as Fungus and Mimics belong to this breed.

Undead:
Base form: Chatterbox
Undeads are not technically a breed in their own right, being made up of the deceased of both
Beasts and Humans. It is unknown what causes them to exist as they do. Skele's and Werewolves
fall under this breed.

Features:
Spoiler:

  • A vast, lovingly mapped world to explore at your own pace.
  • 15 Breeds of Beast, each Breed containing 10 varieties. Leading to a total of 150 diffrent Beasts!
  • Player driven, non-linear storyline.
  • Hundreds of completely optional quests to complete.
  • And much more!

Sideview, but the specifics are undecided. I'm on the hunt for a script that let's me use enemy battler graphics for character battlers.
The only one i could find was removed. =X

And thanks for the replies everyone!

Question. Your monsters fight with you, or for you? Can you actually fight, or are you as useless as the protagonist in DQM: Jokers?

They fight for you. The protagonist's only role is the use of items.

Heh, thank's IMP. ^.^
If i get a chance tomorrow i'll try and expand a little on how the game plays. For now feel free to keep asking questions.

I actually hadn't intended to reveal this so soon. I wanted to get a demo (made up of about 33% of the game) before revealing the project on the forums. But i needed a motivation boost, and it seems to have worked a charm. x3

Not really, i mean, i could potentially get it done in a couple of weeks or so, but i'm not paticularly reliable in that regard. =X

I'll just go with "When it's done."

Oh, do you mean like DQ: Monsters? I liked that game.

Will you be able to control more than one monster at a time, or just stick to one?

I haven't played DQ: Monsters so i can't comment on that.

You will however be able to use up to three Beast's in battle at a time.

Looking good Moururi (Oh the game looks ok too). Interesting choice on the Mack sprites. Pine might hate you for it. Anyways, are you sure Cherub isn't a pokemon name? I'm pretty sure it is. wink.gif

Cherub is a real word too, even if it is a Pokemon (I have no idea, because as far as I'm concerned there were only ever 150 of 'em), so it's fine.

Hrm...Well, Moururi, I assume you have quit all your other Projects? How unfortunate..

...Anywho, this looks interesting, from what I see. The concept is quite new, I think. I'm not actually sure anyone has attempted what you have attempted.
I find the story slightly plain, and boring...But I guess that can be overlooked, if this game is more about the gameplay.

I can't wait to see this project evolve...~ Good job so far.

WOOHOO .. Mack sprites!! Remind me of the forgotten

I really like it so far. The screenshots are nice, and I love how
it's a "A vast, lovingly mapped world to explore at your own pace."
Keep up the nice work. happy.gif

Oh my god...you didn't laugh at all in that post...what is happenning to you?!

Well, yeah, monster raising is a concept that I never saw used in RMVX games. Mostly because that would require tons and tons of databasing. But if she can pull it off, then she'll be my heroine.
