Download Spring Season
(74.2 MB)

Inspired by slow-paced games like those in the Harvest Moon series, World's Dawn allows players to experience life in a tiny town that hums its rural tune a good ways off the beaten path. If Sugar Blossom Village is to ever rediscover the spirited essence it once held, its newest resident must make it so... through your hands!

After moving into an old farmhouse in Sugar Blossom, you're free to explore and participate in a number of activities from day to day. These include growing crops, raising livestock, building relationships with townsfolk, fishing in rivers and ponds, shopping, cooking, foraging, trading goods, playing sports, attending markets and festivals, flirting and marrying, and many more. Even after playing through an entire game year (which will take about 20 - 30 hours) you'll find there is still plenty to surprise and entertain you in the friendly farming village.

Thanks so much for your interest! Don't forget to leave a comment biggrin.gif

Spoiler:

Sugar Blossom Village is a peaceful paradise, a humble farming town nestled in a quiet valley far away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Local families live out simple, jolly lives toiling in the sun-drenched soil, pursuing their crafts and passions... and all the while remaining in the close company of loved ones.

However, after moving into an old farmhouse nearby, you quickly discover that even Sugar Blossom is not without its problems. Older villagers recall a time when the town would hum with spirit and warmth, when an enchanted mist wrapped the shops and pathways in its protective embrace. Now, the peaceful residents must consider the idea that their beloved nature guardians‚€”the ones that provide precious food, rain, and sunlight‚€”are not watching over the village as ardently as they once had.

At the heart of this mystery is Noah Hayseed, a kind-hearted farmer who passed away three years ago and whose name and legacy seem to crop up again and again around town.

As you unravel secrets about Noah's life and the enchanted history of the village, you'll spend the bulk of your time restoring your dusty farmhouse, as well as getting acquainted with the sights and smells of Sugar Blossom. You'll be free to experience town life however you choose, and will find yourself slipping into a comfortable routine as the days crawl by.

You can plant all sorts of fruits and vegetables in your nearby plot, or spend lazy hours fishing in rivers and ponds that sparkle in the sunlight. You can greet and befriend 32 charismatic villagers, all with their own unique pasts and personalities, and build deep relationships with them over the course of long seasons. You can raise barnyard animals like cows and chickens, and even train your very own horse to carry you swiftly around town. Each week you'll be able to participate in markets and festivals and experience the charming culture of Sugar Blossom firsthand. You can become a masterful cook, a skilled athlete, and even a loving spouse to the guy or girl of your dreams.

But most importantly, you can become savior to a village yearning for one... And in doing so, preserve the delicate harmony between people and nature, and the beauty of a simple life.

For what is essentially a more slow-paced and simpler game, it certainly seems like it's gonna be a massive undertaking. That's a very impressive list of features. You've got a lot of work cut out for you, but I can already tell this is going to be exceptional. The tileset alone is very attention-grabbing.

Best of luck on the development, a lot of people are watching. smile.gif

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I appreciate it! It definitely helps with development to know people are looking forward to the game's release.

It is a very substantial undertaking (in terms of work load), as some have said, but I'm enjoying doing it and I certainly plan to go forward with it at a steady pace cool.gif As for your question, Superdreuzel, the player will be able to decide pretty much everything about the hero: name, gender, appearance, personality... and all of those will change how the game plays out.

QUOTE (Superdreuzel @ Feb 8 2010, 02:00 AM) *
Cool biggrin.gif
Sounds like lots of work ^^

On one hand, yes, it's a huge amount of work because there's so much to consider... but it's more enjoyable for me to design, because it's nonlinear and I can work on it at a more casual pace. So it doesn't feel like that much work laugh.gif

Thanks for the comments again. I'll probably release a few more screenshots soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

I added new screenshots to the project thread!

Head up there to see new pictures of the sprite and face graphics, as well as some of the items that will be available in the game. I've decided I'm not skilled enough at spriting to use my own character sets, but I am heavily editing generator-created sprites so that the whole project will keep a unique appearance. I knew I'd have to cut back on some of my initial plans, and this is something that should even make the game better.

And thanks for the positive response, guys...

@ Superdreuzel : I really can't say when the demo is coming, as I can't begin to predict how long certain features will take to complete. But I'm glad you're excited for the game tongue.gif

@ glmprettygrincess :I'm happy that you're looking forward to the game! Oh and, I read the paragraph above for your question about sprites...

@ MileZ : Thanks! I hope the game won't disappoint cool.gif

The new screens do look impressive smile.gif Also itseems that you have thought of quite a few unique items.
Will it be posible to farm like in Harvest Moon? Or keep animal? Or cheat on your husband or wife when you are aleady married?
