![]() Will you ever find Ether Island? I hope so. So I didn't turn off my computer for, oh, a few years. Because of that, I was able to make a game using a totally legit version of the RMVX trial. To save the game, I copy & pasted the project folder elsewhere. Anyway. Versus Xerza: Ultimate Showdown is the first in a series of Versus Xerza games made in RMVX. Goals of the series: -Always complete -Less than two hours each -Hilariously bad (yet not parody-esque) plot ![]() You'll get to explore several distinct enviornments. This game is 100% complete. It has a begining, a middle and an end. There are no bugs and I have playtested it several times. It's a complete game with a hilariously bad plot that you can finish in less than two hours. Maybe you'll even do a no-weapon run or a speed-run. The only caveat is that I can't edit the scripts-- there's some Japanese in the menu and in battle, but it isn't enough to hinder gameplay much (if at all). All of the important words are in English. ![]() Celebrina is easily the hardest fight in the game. Characters: -The Party: You play as a Warrior, a Mage, an Archer and a Cleric. Their names are Patrick, Alonzi, Ulyssa and Richard. The Warrior hits things hard, the Mage casts Force spells, the Archer shoots arrows and the Cleric heals the party. It's a great little team and I'm sure you'll grow to enjoy their little quest to slay... -Xerza: A demi-god who, in case you couldn't tell from the title, is The Baddie. The party tried to attack her once (for adventure-prone reasons, I'm sure) but she, well... she spared them. Xerza sent the party's vehicles all over the world, however, and you'll have to collect them all in order to enter the Tower of Xerza again! -Celebrina: Xerza's daughter. I guess that makes her a Quartergod. Celebrina attacks the party, supposedly 'cause they attacked her dear mommy. Awww, how sweet. She's my favorite. -The Goddesses: There are currently four-- Messan, Turoi, Weynoa and Poolie. They control air, earth, fire and water respectively. The goddesses live on Ether Island and sell ethers and necklaces. -Lara Skye: Just who is Lara Skye, and why is she important? Play the game! ![]() Your characters have stats. Features: -Battles (x) -Maps (10) -Story (n/a) -Vehicles (3) -Magics (6) -Bosses (3) -Dungeons (4) -Bugs (0) -Chests (40+) -Giant Swords (1) -Towns (3) -Crazy Old Codgers (1) -Weapons (10) -Hats (3) -Armors (4) -Naked Goddesses (4.5) ![]() An epic battle on the world map. I have no idea how I couldn't have sold you already, but man. This is actually a nifty game. Have you ever played a RMVX game? Maybe that Moonspeak sample game, but pfffft. This is complete, fun and by an experienced (though new around here) game maker! SO PLAY IT ALREADY. ![]() Yeah, it has a forest dungeon. What? It's an RPG! It HAS to have a forest dungeon! Hell, even Xenosaga has forest dungeons in every game and it's a SPACE OPERA! |

I think you might be crazy, but at least this sounds like fun. I might give it a shot.

I'm in the middle of playing your game through and I think it's funny. I especially enjoy the commentary the part members make while doing stereotypical adventure things. My favorite bit so far is the sprained ankle.
It's funny you should mention Celebrina being the hardest because I'm currently stuck on that battle. Every 2 seconds I get blinded and I must be out of practice because I can't seem to win. Oh well, I'll just have to grind a bit or get a clue. It's just sad when you can kill badies with one blow each but can't seem to win a boss battle. Thanks for completing a game for us before we all even have the full game! |

The best way to fight Celebrina (in my opinion) is to focus on healing/ethering Alonzi; blind doesn't stop spells! Also, if a character is blinded and you don't want them to cast/use an item, have them defend until they're normal again. This'll half the damage they take meaning that they can take better care of Alonzi.
If you don't have the best equipment yet, I suggest you at least invest in some armor for Patrick and Ulyssa and staves for the two casters-- they increase your magic power. Don't worry, the next boss battle is quite a ways away and much more balanced. =D |

I'm playing it as well - nearly got owned by the boss in the forest because I was at level 4 and hadn't bought anything yet (except for a dagger)... now at levels 5-4-4-5 I stumbled upon Celebrina and lost miserably...
...time to grind. However I think it's really a good game! The storyline may be simple but it's cool! |

However I think it's really a good game! The storyline may be simple but it's cool! It's nice that this is the first in a series. Quick and fun are a good combo for us poor college students who like a little old school gaming. It also shows how fun games can be made with just the demo! I tried doing something similar by leaving my computer on but then we had a power outage and all was lost. |

Oui Je Dance: Aww, that's too bad. I'd love to play more VX games!
Kaiden: Err, yeah. That's a little low. =D And yeah I'm crazy. BTW: This is, like, THE English RMVX game on THE English RMVX site. Shouldn't this be a bit more... I dunno, outgoing? HEY GUYS THIS IS HISTORY! |

Where is the Island that sells ethers?! I talked to the goddess in the ice dungeon and she tells the party to go to the island that sells ethers. Well, I'm looking everywhere for it, but I can't find it! Any help here?
Edit: OMG, I just found it. I was looking for it forever. On a side note, that Forest Guardian boss was really hard! I was nearly dead. -------------------- |

Was it really hard as in "argh that battle sucked TOO DIFFICULT" or "man, that was a neat challenge?"
And yeah, it was supposed to take a while to find Ether Island. =D I think it's the prettiest area in the game, though, so it's worth it~! |

Its fun, the Japanese text can get confusing and its on a very hard level [around some of the FF's levels of difficulty] but its enjoyable, visuals are amazing and text is witty but not hilarious. All in all great job for such little time on a trial. 4/5

Sorry that I keep posting. I was barily able to defeat the first guardian, man was he hard! I beat him with everyone in my party at level 4, Patrick and Ulyussa had the strongest weapons you could get in the first town, and I used no magic with Alonzi because she had no MP. After the battle the only oen alive was Patrick with poison. Sheesh...hard but fun battle!

Yeah, doing the cave would be a good thing. =D
Finding Ether Island isn't really difficult, it's just somewhat random. Glad you've played at least that far. |
