First place winner in Game Gale:



Sypnosis:
Mistral Gale is a 1-week mini-game project entry created for the Game Gale Contest at OmegaDev forum and centered for cookie hunters!
The game revolves around our main character Marx*, who wants to obtain the 'Golden Cookie'. In order to achieve his desire, he must fly his
way through 5 different locations, collect cookies while on his way, encounter 'air' monsters, and finally strive for that 'Golden Cookie'.

Character Info:

Marx Mayhem*
You'll be controlling him for the rest of the game. Judging by his looks, he's the 22nd cousin of Ralph.
Age: unknown. Mind age: 15. He wants nothing in his life but cookiez.
His ultimate dream is to go to cookie heaven, which he thinks he can reach by eating the 'Golden Cookie',
his only weapon is a wrench made by the Mitosoft company, and he flies using Mitosoft's invention named GALE 00X.

Some gameplay features:
Spoiler:
'Flight' System - Your typical Requiem ABS, but in the sky. The controls are simple.
Press UP to accelerate, DOWN to deccelerate, and RIGHT or LEFT to turn. Did I mention
you can't stop moving while in 'flight' mode? (Marx calls this GALE ON)

Gale Fuel System - Planes have fuel, so does this game.

Power-ups - There are various objects scattered around a stage that might change
the flight positively and negatively. I only placed 5 different power-ups in the demo. Once picked-up,
they will respawn somewhere in the stage after a certain period of time.

Cookie-Drop System - Websites give cookies, and so do enemies!

2 GAMEOVER Scenario - An evented gameover will be called when Marx's HP and\or Gale-Fuel drops to 0.

Scoring Sytem - So far, you can only see your score when you lose.

Hidden save - Saves your progress only when transferred to another stage. This also means that once you lose, your save will be the gameover scene, just to show your score. smile.gif

*Note that there are a total of 5 different locations in the demo. Also, in the images, I used Omegas7's
map saver script with the unedited tiles which are different in-game. I will only show 2. smile.gif

Known glitches\bugs:
-The game lags a bit.
-When panning in a map, there's a graphical glitch with the large sprites
where their sprite moves with the scrolling. (partially solved using Scene_Map.new)

-wltr3565 gauge glitch: disposes the cookie meter slowly.
-contributed by kyle: when continuing a save from a warp cloud transfer, the character
graphic of the main character is 'none'.
-some members will find the flight system hard. (It's a bug, 'cause it's bugging me. hehe.) biggrin.gif

Plans\Improvements:
-Change main character name. smile.gif
-Please suggest something, and you shall receive.

Ok, it's presented nicely, and is a good idea.
The script you used for the movement (i used it too for my project tongue.gif so I can tell you used it) doesn't work well with the abs imo. You could event a more sturdy system but it's up to you tongue.gif
I enjoyed it, but found it difficult wink.gif

Well, attacking while turning on a weird angle is hard and you have to keep turning back to kill them is pretty annoying.

The best BAKA ever

Hahaha, I LOVE this game! I love this game's gameplay, graphics, such. This one's a revolution of RM games, you made a different genre from other games! (I don't care if the engine is specially for RPGs, but this game's not an RPG, and I'm a little bored to play RPGs for a while in RM games here)

Gameplay: A
The gameplay's system rocks! You fight and play through the air and fight of some foes, to get cookiez! This game's concept's great! Control maybe hard, but some detailed tutorials does cover that. Still, there's some point there where I can't pick up items correctly and the enemy's hitbox is like Touhou; smaller than their body size. I do prefer if I can just automatically pick up the items as I touch them. That made the gameplay ratherly difficult to control. And adding more recoveries can be better, we're lacking recoveries here, and damaging still rely on hit and miss, which make things rely on luck. And the game over for KO and Fuel out aren't that different... Bug or what is this?

Graphics: A-
Ah, the epic RTP style demographic, plus some sprites that were resized and some sexy HUDs, and they're simple to read too. I love it, especially Marx's poses. But the Gale counter blocked my view as I go to the bottom-right part of the map. Annoying.

Story: B+
Simple yet epic, the hero's goal is typical, yes. But his goal, very epic indeed, for cookies. Great laugh.gif.

Sound: B+
Good use there, I love Etrian Odessey's loading BGM, makes me can wait for as long as I can. But, I can't comment more than this, sorry.

Overall Rank: A
A great action game of RMVX! I recommend everyone to play this, for fun, or test yourself. This one's a masterpiece of genre-revolution. When will this game to be complete? But, we can't expect danmakus here ;P
