Here's a tutorial on creating Dark Forests and Jungles ...with Mack's tiles! Look at the bottom for the final product! Part 1: Base Spoiler: Part 2: Randomizing Trees Spoiler: Part 3: Little Plants Spoiler: Part 4: Events Spoiler: Things you may want to consider about forest mapping (optional): Spoiler: And so, now I give you the result! Please note, I took away some of the things I had in the previous images and added a script for the tree canopy shadow across the map. ![]() Support? This is a very nice tutorial on how to make a forest. I like it.
One thing I'd like to say though, is that in the last part with the red circles, Mack has a tile you place over those corners to make them better. Other than that this will definitely help those with trouble in mapping forests. -------------------- |

The result is especially fancy when using Thomas Edison VX. Of course, that's only when creating fantasy realms. -------------------- |

Wow! That's a really cool effect! I always sucked at forests. I did squares as you told us not to. I always also forget to use the tinting function, which can make the most out of a scene.

Yuup!~ tinting helps. ... Remember to randomize your trees or I shall bite your head off. (^,..,^) -------------------- |

Great tutorial! I might try this method but with cave tiles to make my caves less linear.

Nice tut, good use of autotiles. I never use them myself when I map woods (Wonder why..)

It's because they're blocky as hell.
But you can't really map a closed-in place without autotiled walls. So what better for a dense forest than the trees? -------------------- |

Thanks for the tutorial. I don't know why I never thought to use events to overlap the trees.
I guess I never occured to me. I don't use the Mack trees that often, but now I think I will. Your maps look great. Thanks for posting. -------------------- |
