Hello everybody!

I was recently playing around with parallax mapping and junk for my games, but I didn't really like it. Too much work for how little
actually needed. And so instead, I came up with something different. Same general idea, but instead, using characters.

See? You can place these guys right into your game without having to worry about all the complicated stuff.

Here is a quick example of what some of them look like in game.

Spoiler:

As you can see, you can play around with the positioning a bit to get them to look right.
Quick Notes:
These were made with a combination of mack and rtp tiles.
Only place them in places where the character cannot walk. Otherwise, he can walk right through them.
Save them in the characters section, and remember to keep the $ in front.

I realize that this isn't much to show off just yet, but I promise to continue expanding upon the one that I have now.

Enjoy.

Lookin' pretty neat so far. I prefer to use parallax mapping for that kinda stuff, 'cause I'm far too lazy to create custom character sheets.

Thanks Leridan. I find this method easier, because I can reuse stuff on different size maps. This is my first attempt though.

I agree with the reusing thing ^__^ I love the barrels! They add a very nice touch to a storage room and what not ^___^
Keep up the good work! I'll be checking back on your sprites because I'm not that great at spriting objects yet. *learns a lot by looking at this*
I really like it ^___^

Took me a bit, but I updated as promised. Here are some random plant life edits.

You could possibly set the event to below character to walk over these, but I still looks kind of funky.

I still suck at this, but I'll keep on working at it.

If theres anything you'd like to more of, don't feel shy. Holla at me.

Thank you Jason. Means a lot coming from you. wink.gif

Quick note. I'll be changing the size of the next character sheet so that it is more on par with the 36 by 36 grid. It won't match exactly,
because that would ruin the random feel I want to accomplish with it. I don't know yet. I'll play around.
