I'll time myself doing both...

Okay. The results:
-Saving the pic, making a new map, putting the event in, and opening the pic, then setting to parallel took me 25 seconds (saving took 9)
-Making a new map, and editing the party database, adding a transfer event, and party member took me 22...

Not trying to be a bish or anything, just fighting for what I believe. Both ways take <30 seconds, so it's nbd.

I just make a Parallel process event beside the intro, have it like this:

Change Transparency: Transparent
Control Self Switch A = On
Erase Event

Believe it or not the top command does it instantly, just like adding a picture or starting with no actors, except theres no need for an additional picture or map.

Not saying this is a better/quicker way, but it is my way.

This method is so much easier!Its a good way to keep light effects from showing through the fade in/out.

A better idea is show a demo of each to show what is the best intro to use. That way we can choose what is best for a start.

I know this is a necro-post but I've got something really useful to add here, which is simple and pretty helpful.

If you want your screen black at the start of the game just change it with a tint screen. The problem with it flashing for a second is that you need to change the time.



Default is 60 frames which is 1 second. If you change it to 1 then it's pretty much instant, be sure to check wait for completion. Put this in a parallel process and the first thing in the event.

Sorry if I'm understanding the problem wrong, but if I'm not, it'd be really helpful since everyone is completely overlooking this.

Situations vary with the necroposting. There's a world of difference between a legitimately helpful post, and just spamming up a dead topic better left to rest. Leaving this closed since, after all, it's your topic! However I don't think someone posting something helpful is a reason to jump down their throats and insult them.

If that were the case Penta, you'd be okay with anyone necro-ing any topic because they found better methods. If they have a better method, go ahead, make a tutorial yourself. But to necro a year old topic just to do this? No, no excuse.

I just said situations vary. It's in the board rules. No, this doesn't mean every single necro is okay, and I don't know why you're blowing it out of proportion like that. I also don't think you need to make a tutorial that short for something that's more of a footnote than anything else.
