YYYESSS! Both Chrono Cross' and Xenogears OST were awesome. And despite the fact that CC might have not lived up to the Chrono name for some of CT fans, you have to give it to its soundtrack for being awesome. WHAT?! How many didn't like Chrono Cross?! I understand they might have wanted to see Chrono and the old gang again, but it wasn't supposed to be about them in CC. It was trying to explain more about the multi-verses and reintroduce Radical Dreamers to those that never played it. It was an amazing game~ But yes, Yasunori Mitsuda is one of the most brilliant composers in gaming, in my opinion. The music had so much life and were great to listen to over and over~ I had to order my Chrono Cross OST from across the sea because I couldn't find it anywhere at the time. -------------------- ![]() ...If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.... |

Oh man...too many to list. Honestly, my favorite soundtracks are ones I have a hard time listening to outside of the game, because they just flow well with it. But there are a few exceptions...
Definitely have a lot of respect for Koji Kondo and Yasunori Mitsuda - they're seemingly the first, to me, that turned video music into a real art. Not to mention they've probably produced the most famous music. But if I had to feature a particular artist that I absolutely love, it would have to be the genius talents of Danny Baranowsky with his work in Super Meat Boy. The guy used to be a popular critic over on OC remix, a place that's a well-known hub for turning out some really good remixes (I'm sure Abt_Nihil knows what I'm talking about seeing that he's doing some remix work I just love his frantic style. Here are a few of my favorites (actually, I like them all and even bought the full soundtrack...): Hell World - Just...crazy. Rapture Dark World - Sounds like Smooth Criminal. Hospital World - Darker style. The End - Epic theme. Cotten World - Fun song, very bouncy. And I can't forget that this one will always be a favorite of mine. Definitely have a lot of respect for Koji Kondo and Yasunori Mitsuda - they're seemingly the first, to me, that turned video music into a real art. I would definitely say that that honor would go to Koichi Sugiyama to me. I mean, he was already a successful composer before he was asked to score Dragon Quest. In fact his first contact with Enix was sending them a fan letter over one of their games. Which left the staff there shocked that a celebrity of his stature would send them a hand written fan letter. He and Koji Kondo were doing work for video games starting at around the same time (though Sugiyama has been composing music since before Kondo was BORN), but Mitsuda wasn't around for another 6-7 years. |

Shards of the Exodar (World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ciyoQUlhwY I cried like a little girl at 1:25 when the Armenian duduk hits the notes. It's like an emotional explosion, need to feel it instead of listening. Fenris Theme (Dragon Age 2): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSCq7jTL7tQ Shivers every time I hear it. Perfect theme for a perfect character. Rogue Heart (Dragon Age 2): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jc_xqnTKWw All of the calm themes in DA2 are amazing and it's hard to pick. But this one gets me into this strange state of meditation or whatnot. Ezio's Family (Assassin's Creed 2): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0i6YFrSs6c Like a sad sad lullaby, it makes me cry myself to sleep, in the best way possible. Cataract Gateway (Dragon Nest): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1uHkSSw9so Somehow I imagine an elven priestess singing her goodbye to her lover. He's probably going to get killed in a war or something. Me no like happy endings. -------------------- |
