can do both. You just need to configure two parts of the script for those two features
At around line 779, you will see:
LETTER_SOUND = false # See line 406.
LETTER_SE = "Open1", 40 # See line 408.
LETTERS_PER_SE = 3 # See line 410.
RANDOM_PITCH = 100..100 # See line 413.
LETTER_SOUND should be changed to true; LETTER_SE should be the name of the SE you want to use, followed by the volume and pitch you want it to play at (optional); LETTERS_PER_SE determines how many letters should be drawn between playing the SE; RANDOM_PITCH should be left at 100..100 really. It is only useful if you want to vary the pitch of the SE played in order to mimic pitch changes in the human voice.
For the sound that you want to play when waiting for input from the player, you can go to line 790 and see:
PAUSE_SOUND = false # See line 434.
PAUSE_SE = "Decision2" # See line 436.
Change PAUSE_SOUND to true and set PAUSE_SE to the filaname of the SE you want to use, followed by volume and pitch (if you want to specify that).
There are a ton of other features in the ATS if you want them, but keep in mind that you can disable any feature in the ATS if you don't want it. Also, all of the above settings can be changed in-game at any time, either for individual messages or for all messages thereafter.
And of course, the NMS that Omegas7 linked you to is a great script if the ATS doesn't suit you.
