Checkpoint System - Export/Import Game Data v1.11

First off, this script is not immediately plug and play. You must edit the configuration in both scripts, mainly the database
module options. These values take the value you specify, and iterate through that many of whatever they are of. For
example, DATABASE_ACTORS refers to the number of actors you have in your database. It doesn't matter if you have a
bunch of blank entries afterwords, only that your value includes AT LEAST the last filled entry in their respective categories.

This script is divided into two parts; Export Game Data, and Import Game Data. Export Game Data does not require
Import Game Data, but the same cannot be said of Import Game Data, since it takes module options from Export
Game Data.

Features:

-Ability to Export game data as a .txt file, and Import it later, from perhaps another project.
Game data includes: party & party members' parameters, gold & items, steps taken, variables
and switches, the map location (including disc maps), and self-switches (normal maps).



Future Features:

-Export/Import Self-Switches (from disc maps)
-Support for more custom scripts

How to Use:

Place below all default scripts in the script editor. Shouldn't have compatiblity issues.

FAQ:

Q: Is it compatible with [script]?
A: Read the spoiler. It has the information you desire.

Q: Can you make this compatible with [script]?
A: Provide me the script, and I'll see what I can do.

Q: Why would I want to use this?
A: Let's say you want a game that is divided into episodes, so you make 5 complete projects, but no way of allowing
a player to continue their character development. That's where this script comes in. Simply set this value to false
in Import Game Data, and you'll effectively be importing your game data! (Keep in mind that setting this value to
false simply lets you decide when you want to perform the map transfer (via variables), rather than automatically
doing so within the script.)

Author's Notes:

This is the second release of both scripts. Designed to allow the exporting and importing of game data between
projects, or game versions. Has been completely recoded, due to some bugs that caused it to perform strangely.

One question though.
The OP says it is not Plug and Play, but the Scripts both say they are.
Before I screw anything up, I'd like to know whether or not they really are Plug and Play.

No probs. The alternative was to event it all out, which wasnt very appealing. Xd; as long as you set the configuration options correctly (mostly amounts from the database), there shouldnt be a problem. Try the demo if you wish, as it contains this (and other) scripts, in action. Let me know if you come across any issues, or wish this script to support a specific custom script not supported already. wink.gif

Aye, it should work with YEM now. If it doesn't, let me know. wink.gif Sorry for the lack of being concise. What it DOESN'T do, is have support for importing YEM-related stats. It's no big deal though, something that I can do if enough people bug me and I start feeling generous. XD

Yep; dexterity and resistance, as well as morale and aggro. Shouldn't be too awfully hard to work in there, although stats really aren't much of an issue, unless you're using consumable items that increase stats. Actually, just thinking about the problem I originally had has given me an inspiration, so maybe I'll do that later, while I'm still thinking about it.

If I knew anything about scripting I'd take on the project myself, but this is something that'll help me a great deal. I hate to sound so selfish since I'm the only one requesting this, but if you can add in DEX and RES, I would be VERY excited.

EDIT: On second thought, aren't the values of DEX and RES pulled from a formula that relies on the primary stats anyway? Would you even need to incorporate something to make it work?

Probably not. They are their own, separate stats, having their own methods as well. But:

CODE
# -----------------------------------------------------------------------
      # Item Tags - For Items only.
      # -----------------------------------------------------------------------
      # <dex growth: +x>  or  <dex growth: -x>
      # This raises or lowers the target's base DEX by x amount.


If you use this, you are adding permanent stat points outside of what's supported by this script; leveling up and equipments' effects, which is why this so-called 'fix' really isn't necessary, unless you plan on having some kind of special potion, that increases these stats permanently.

Updated the import script to version 1.11; fixed a couple bugs having to do with the line being processed being thrown off by one four times by the time it reached the section dealing with Map Location. It should now process these correctly.
