Basics Of Frankenspriting

Before you read this tutorial you must have a Basic Recolor/Graphic Knowledge
Oh and also im using PAINT.NET, it should work for GIMP, not sure bout photoshop

Today we will be giving the RTP Heros "Lawerance" A mustache, Without creating from scratch!

You ask, Oh Noez how do we do this!!!

Easy, Simply find a RTP Person with a stache and take it...that is called Frankenspriting...


STEP ONE:

Find the two RTP Character and imagine putting one piece of a part from one character to the other...
I have the old man hero, and "Lawerance"
And im planning to take the old mans stache (Yeah you heard me) to give it to lawerance

Now you ask..how do we rip off that mustache...SIMPLE!
use the cropping tool to crop the mustache
its okay if you have some skin leftover, we'll remove them later.

Now you copy the stache and move it aside(With the extra skin stuff) and use the eraser on the leftover skin,
i recommend using the 1 for the eraser (But if you want to be all badass and use the 2, go ahead)

Now here come to some critical parts...You move on to the character you wish to put the part on...
MAKE A NEW LAYER!! Otherwise if you make a mistake it will be hard to reverse it!!!!!

Now heres another critical part...Copy the mustache and (WITH THE NEW LAYER YOU MADE) Paste it on the page...
Now move it to the place you want to put it on...

So this is the last step this is were recoloring comes in...So after many years of scientific experiment...i notice the mustache is grey and the hair is orange!!
So i just simply using the colors of the hair to recolor the stache

(No Screeny Needed)

Very nice tut covers pretty much everything.
[Btw,you should tell what you used for recoloring(by hand,hue saturation etc)IMO]

Luckliy gimp has a lasso tool that can do a selection much easier and precise.

Hi.
Here's another step, that should be early in the process:
- Check that the library for Character Creator VX / Character Creator.NET doesn't already have the item you are trying to copy off the sprite.

Moustaches, for example, are aplenty.
