This tutorial is not for beginner mappers. This is only for mappers who have average mapping skills.
I'll be using some scripts and graphics over here:
Scripts
-Sojabird's Autolight Script. (Scroll down to "Autolight")
-Bulletxt's Thomas Edison Script (Here)

Graphics
-Hanzo Kimura's XP Trees
-Stormriderangels flowers and plants

And of course, I'm using Mack Tiles, however, you can do this on any tiles.
I also darkened the tiles.

Step One:

Lay out the basic map design first:

Use the Upper Left Water Autotiles (Highlighted) to create depth in the river.

Step Two:

Lay down all the trees and plants:

Leave some space for the next steps.

Step Three:

Now Print Screen the whole map.

If your map is too big, use Omegas Map Saver Script to save the whole map as
a .png file.

Step Four:

Go to a Picture Editing software that has layers, Paint.net needs the layer plugin.
I start with the flowers and plants first, import them on layers
Keep the base image of your map, don't merge down the layers.:

Then delete the base layer:

It should look something like that.
Save it as "GroundX"
Replace X with your MapID.

Step Five:

Do the same thing with the trees but on a different file:

Then delete the base map image:

Save it as "ParX"
Replace X with your MapID.

Step Six:

Open the script configurations. Scroll to the Autolight Script,
then edit the configurations. The "Ground" and "Par" Layer can be turned on
with a switch, so assign a switch to that.

Create an autorun event, turning on the switch, then turning on self-switch A
Create a new event page, check the "If self-switch A is on" under the Conditions.

Create a parallel process event, tint the screen like below:

You can change this if you want.

Using the Thomas Edison Light Script, I created random dots of blue light to
give the forest a mystical Feeling and Atmosphere.

This is how it should look like now, but we're not done.
Look at Mack's TileD

I higlighted two empty spaces. One must be marked "X".
Place the "X" box underneath all the trees. Keep the png file of the trees
open for a reference:

This is to prevent players from "floating" under the trees."

That's it folks. This tutorial is compatible with any tileset. Comment if you don't understand.

Niiiice, looks difficult, specially since the highest picture editor I haz is micropaint. But niiiiiice, can I haz du map u maed.

....So placing the "X" under the trees will make it seem more like how it is when you normally map, or just prevent the player from floating under them? What about the flowers? Does one put the "X" over the flowers as well?

No you don't. You can walk over the flowers .

Ah, okay.

I'm getting into VX (but first mapping) and I wasn't sure how this mapping worked and had a few questions about it. The trees was one of the questions, but they are answered now.

Another way is go into your game in the maker and got to the tile where the flowers you use and on the walking icon put X over the flower image that is to keep players not to walk on them. Its not hard to figure out. It didn't take me long to do it.
