Nice... but on the premade houses, why is there a bright glow outside of the houses from the circular stain-glass window?

When my aunt lived in Italy, she used to tell me about this church in her neighborhood that had big rows of prayer candles in front of a stained glass window. Even during the day, the windows would just glow. Since that was a bit of inspiration for the tileset, I added that small detail.
Though it can certainly be taken out if it looks too out of place. Those houses were, really, just an example of what one can do with the tiles. |

I *really* like these
One question though... you think you could animate the door to open and close? Kind of odd to make it a tile, then make it like.. vanish when you open it. idk. I could just use any other door i suppose.. but i think doors should be animated. OwO; Otherwise its awesome, I'm definitely going to use these for the 1st (and maybe other) town(s) of White Remedy :3 yayz -------------------- |

They are wonderful, Lunarea!
They really do give off a Italy feeling (I'm Italian xD). They are a both beautiful and adorable tileset. Your tilesets are making me want to hurry up and sit down to think of a story for a game in VX xD This post has been edited by MagitekElite: Nov 29 2010, 06:21 AM -------------------- ![]() Luna's Character Workshop ![]() ![]() ![]() Earthen - Dawn of Smiths RPG Creation (Game Creation (all makers)) Spriting Lessons with LoMastul (absolutely helpful!) Yesssss I'm so glad you finished these, Lunarea! I will DEFINITELY be using them. ;w; Huge huge huge fan of the style, especially since they fit into the RTP so well. And all of the little accessories are adorable!
Big big fan of the windows and the three-sided pillar-wall. X3 -------------------- |

I really like your new tiles, they look great! There's a few errors in them though, mostly just the roof. I know how hard it is to create seamless tiles, as something is always off by like a pixel or something, but anyways, your roof panels aren't seamless on the side. I can see a big fuzzy area where it's being divided. I think it's because you were trying to make the panels go into a V shape, but that hardly ever works out with tiles. Then it looks kind of weird when there's no line to divide the sides of the rooftop. I would add a dark blue line in them to divide it, and it'll look much better. Another point; why do you darken the left side of the rooftop? The left side of the roof should be the brightest, because the light source comes mostly from the left side.
I'd also add some shadows on some of the little rooftops, because they would cast a shadow Here's an image explaining it better: ![]() Other than the errors in the rooftop, they're pretty good tiles! I especially like the stones on the edges of the house. |

Your tiles look great. They're really well-done for something made from scratch. .o.

Wow, lots of replies!
@Jalen: Yay! And given how much you're helping all of us out with your gorgeous portraits, it's only fair that you get something in return. I can't wait to see your project in action! @new: Thanks! They're pretty easy and fun to use in parallax mapping. @heisenman: Thank you, and I'm very happy to share. @Jasonicus: It's always good to have a touch of uniqueness, isn't it? @Celianna: Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't add any lines on the smaller roof areas purely for the aesthetic. It just looked better without them. Likewise for the dark left side of the angled wall. I know that the light source is on the lower left, but making a bright left side just made for an odd shape. Two dark panels on the side made for an easier-to-recognize shape. Hopefully it can be overlooked just a little I hadn't added any shadows (save for the slanted walls) because I always add them last - based on the architecture and placement in-map. I figured everyone else does this too, though I can certainly add them in the tileset if everyone prefers that. I just, personally, like to experiment with tiles and less shadows means being able to create some pretty unique placements. @SamGreen: He's preaching about saving your soul. @IceDragon: I'm glad tiny trees get love too. @A.M.: Thank you! Pixel art (or in this case, painted small-scale pixel art) isn't easy, but it can produce some amazing results. You should look up some of the real pros out there. What some people can do with pixels blows my mind! @Ronnie: Thanks! More tiles is always better, no? |

If you're worried about shape, instead of darkening one side of the roof, just add the lines. They might not look that great to you, but it helps the eye to divide the rooftop easier

Looking great Luna, keep it up. You should really make an example map with those tiles, you know, show 'em off.
