Celianna: Not according to SamGreen's parallaxing tutorial, in there you are prompted to use a script. Ah well I can try to use it as a parallax image, might work ;p Read this: http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?s=&...st&p=428131 Stay on topic. @Celianna: Hmm... I'm not really a fan of the border. It makes everything feel a little too closed off to me.
The faces are lookin' right rad, though! c: |

@ Celianna: I don't like the border either, I agree with Emmych. It makes me feel like I'm looking through an ACTUAL window, like the character and the map are closed off to me. I think the border is really nice, I DO like the design, but I don't like it wrapped all the way around the screen. >;
Also, watch out for her left eye (our right). It's mega super tiny compared to the right. While it SHOULD be smaller, that's actually too small and makes her head look off-kilter. Are you going to be coloring the inside of her eyes, too? The small black pupils make her look like she's looking at us REALLY INTENSELY, and not in an altogether good way. I am, however, in love with the map. It really gives off a wonderful princess-y vibe, and the isometric style is great for a movie-ish game where the players don't actually move the chara around themselves. The windows are especially gorgeous with that soft lighting, and the designs on the tables are adorable. X3 I do have one thing to point out -- I really like her pink privacy screen, but you miiight wanna darken the shadows a bit in the front. My eyes keep playing tricks on me and tilting it in funny ways. XD -------------------- |

Isn't Cel's game a movie? Border would make sense then. I like it, actually.

It IS a movie, but it makes me feel disconnected...and it's a little distracting. I'd rather see the bits of the map that are covered up!

Hmm, I do want to give it a closed off feel (like a book), but I'll see if I can make it thinner so it won't be bothering you as much.
Edit: here's one with a thinner border, as well as a smaller portrait.

@Celianna: Naaah, still don't like it. It's probably just a personal preference thing, but I'm really not diggin' it.
It feels too cramped... I agree with what Jalen is saying about wanting to see the entire map. The border seems a little distracting. |

And without it, it loses the fairy-tale like vibe I'm going for. Here's without it:
![]() Guess it is a personal thing, because I like it with the border. |

I honestly don't have a problem with a border. I guess it would make more sense to have it during cutscenes and when playing stories, but that doesn't mean it couldn't be during the entire game. I'm pretty sure I've seen a game like that before, not sure where though.

Well One thing I know for sure is that the whole thing will be a cutscene xD Because it's a movie...
I like it with that Thin Border It's okay, it doesn't take too much of the screen so it's okay in my eyes -------------------- |

Well, I am not much of an expert but I really do like the borders. I also like the Disney-like picture, being a fan and all.
I wouldn't change a thing but again I am saying this from a spectator, not a designer point of view. |

@Cel:
How about using the lovely thick border for the top and bottom of the screen, but a very thin one on the sides (about as thin as the windowskin gold line)? It would give you the great detail, and at the same time make it look like a wide-screen movie - only with fairytale bars instead of just plain black bars. |

Alright, I made the sides thinner and left the thin top and bottom parts. And to make the screenshots not so boring and repetitive, I added in a different background and an older portrait.
![]() Well, I like it like this, don't think I'll be changing it anymore |

Personally, borders or borderless, I would not mind: it's still nice nonetheless. -------------------- |

@invasive: I actually quote like it. Usually I'm not a fan of randomly placed light effects, but in your maps, I don't mind it as much. The only thing I have to note is that those mountains/hills in the second screenshot were meant for a worldmap, not a regular map ... I think.
