What we are looking for:
Memoir of Ivanrah takes place after a great plague has swept over the entire planet, taking the lives of about one third of the planet's entire population. In the wake of the plague, many dynasties and kingdoms had their rulers and their families perish, including Ivanrah and Korth.
Due to the need of leadership, many of these countries turned to appointing once unknown persons to control these lands. A man of the name ‚€œAgustin Dormandier‚€Ě took the seat as king of the country of Ivanrah. Peace fell across the country as he supported many endeavors in arts, education, and the building of a strong defensive army, in hopes that the surplus of available jobs would help those in need, and to also help ward off any possible threat from the increase of poverty in other areas of the world.
Due to the nature of the plague, people living in close proximity of one another took the brunt force of the deaths, leaving many farming lands still operable after it dwindled away. The over production of food, with the small demand for it, caused many farmers and livestock owners to turn to other forms of work, including joining the ever growing army of Ivanrah.
To the north of peaceful Ivanrah, the country of Korth is struggling with poverty and a mysterious man kills off the monarch, taking his place as king. Korth's army is building at dramatic rates and is causing concern for King Dormandier of Ivanrah.
The game works off several key systems:
1. Time difference - As the game starts off halfway through an unraveled story, much is to be learned about the history of Ivanrah. The understanding of the plague and war will help the player uncover secrets and know where to continue with the game. Half of the game will be memory sequences of the main character which are playable, with an entirely different party.
2. The Butterfly Effect - Everything that happens with the party in the past will effect the party in the present. If the past party does something to upset someone, they will remember what happened and treat the player differently in the present. Doing things for certain individuals will effect their reputation with that person, which can be either beneficial or have negative impact on later dates. The emplacement of this feature will allow for the game to have different feels each time the player plays it!
3. Full Image Cut Scenes - Some of the cut scenes for the game will utilize full color images of the characters in action, that way the player feels like the characters are more alive and full of personality than just simple pixels.
4. FUTURE PLANS - If the game gets good results, I have decided that I will be hiring PROFESSIONAL
voice actors to represent some of the more important cut scenes. Of course, I will be paying them with my own money, but if people are actually showing interest in the game, I don't mind it.
The starting location of the game takes place in the country of Ivanrah, a temperate country located on the western continent of Ophoria. North of Ivanrah is the country of Korth; an arctic wasteland that is mountainous and dangerous during half the year. South of Ivanrah is the tropical continent of Lopieli. There are a total of five continents on the planet of Kroes. The time frame of the game is in midievil fantasy.Jacob
is the game's main character and leading protagonist. He grows up, taking over his father's farm ever since the plague took the life of his parents. Jacob then joins the military due to the lack of work in the area of farming, and is recognized for his great potential in the area of combat. He is then sent to join a group of chosen members of the Royal Guard called "The Errants"Ě, in which they are originally tasked to do high priority errands around Ivanrah. These tasks slowly unmask a great power, and from there, the slippery slopes of fate go downhill. Jacob is thrown into a land where he must rely on his friends and allies to carry on. These circumstances slowly change Jacob from the lighthearted loving character into a much more war-hardened fighter. Justice and Comradery are the only things that he comes to know. Until the day that he and his men are attacked and he is left for dead in the hills overlooking the Ivanrah / Korth border. When he comes to, he has forgotten everything about his past. The urge for him to find out about his past now drives him forward to find out exactly what has happened to the world in which he now lives.Abel
is a friend of Jacob's and the leader of the Errants. The plague took the lives of his wife and child. Due to the loss of his loved ones, Abel is very distant and hard to read. His love for his friends is the only thing that makes him drive on. Before working on the farm with Jacob, Abel was a blacksmith and weapon enthusiast. The years of working with metal and fire have made Abel incredibly strong and tempered. Due to the lack of work, Abel suggests to Jacob that they join the recruitment campaign of the Ivanrah military. He teaches Jacob swordsmanship and combat in any time they have free so that they have high chances to come back home from every mission they receive.Drake
grew up in a fairly wealthy merchant family, who are well known for bringing supplies from Jaedric to smaller villages. He has a strong sense of work ethic and left the family business to try to make a name for himself as a trader and merchant. He got word that a new village was being constructed for a group of knights and soldiers in northern Ivanrah, and decided to conduct business there, trying to make his mark by being the only merchant for the village. He then set up shop in Kellock. His younger sister Alinstra joined him, to keep him company and care for him at home, due to him being a single man. His journeys traveling with goods has made him run into many animals and bandits, which have caused him to become adept with small blades and fist weapons, things that could be easily hidden to not cause worry among his customers.
