~Ookie, Soruve, and Emmych by Emmych~

Hey everyone! Last year we had an *amazing* turnout when the V.X. Club hosted the art contest. Now this year we're doing it again, with new faces, new themes, and a whole new set of rewards! Here's a general rundown:


Our theme is a bit more narrow but much more open at the same time~ This time, we want you to support your favorite RMVX games! Whether they are in development or completed already, I'm sure the developers would love your support. You may submit art of:

-An original character from any RMVX game, demo, or developing game that has a reference for the character and a thread posted on rpgmakervx.net
-Any default RTP character that has starred in an RMVX game.
-A community character that has starred in multiple RMVX games / developing games (not just a small cameo in one game, for example)
-You are allowed to include yourself in the picture. What kind of fan doesn't want a picture of themselves smooching with their desired fantasy character (or non-fantasy? iIf you draw a community character XD) Hehe~

We will also have three judges to give you feedback on your work, though they will not detirmine the winner. You will be critiqued on:

-Color Theory
-Shading
-Proportions
-Correct use of light source
-General adherence to the theme and more!

There is no specific style of art or art media required. You may draw, paint, sketch, or even create it digitally (photoshop or pixel art for example). Also be aware that no one is limited to draw just one character per piece. A piece of art is a piece of art. Be creative! Support more than one game in your piece, if you like! Just be sure they follow the theme and rules!

A topic of your choosing pinned for two weeks

-You may only submit work that is 100% genuinely yours. Any stolen or edited work will be disqualified. This means no sprites, and no RTP edits, too.
-Use the submission form! Those who do not will not be entered until they use the form correctly.
-All art must follow the board rules. That means no nudity, no graphic material, etc.
-Follow the guidelines. No fan art of anything else besides the items listed. If you are unsure if your idea is qualified, post in this thread or PM me.
-You may submit up to 2 entries, but only one can win any place. (So you can't have one drawing in first and the other in second, one user will get one place only, but 2 chances to win if they chose)

Why are you a fan?: Personally, emmych's game seems like the one of the most talented games I've ever seen. Just, the work put into the graphics, characters, and features is amazing! I hope one day to make my game as good as hers is, and hers isn't even out yet! Oh, and plus, Alvaro just seems like a total bad-ass

Why are you a fan?: It's a game I would really like to see finished. It has a lot of potential and is based off of an ever-popular vocaloid song which I also a fan of.

Why are you a fan?: Well, for one, I thought the idea would be hilarious. Members cosplaying as other members is too cute to resist. Secondly, all of the games mentioned are some of the most well-done and hilarious community games to ever emerge, and few people could top them. :3

Why are you a fan?: Tailor Tales is a crazy little mix up of people all put together so one girl can find love. (Two now, I think.) On top of that, the game looks great.

Art Media: Well i sort of waited till the last second to do this so its not really done at all but oh well~ It was done in photoshop.
Why are you a fan?: Well I sort of liked the character and the idea about the main story/plot. Dystopian worlds are pretty cool. Basically, Seline is a total stone brick type of persona but I think that the dystopian society will eventually break her, which is what this picture is. Its sort of a dual mirror image sort of thing. I imagine the world to be almost steampunk like with a lot of mechanical aspects and stuff like that, so I was trying to portray that ruggedness. but alas, my time ran short. :c

Final Note: Please note that I rushed some of this, in case you're wondering why some of it is of worse quality than the rest. Also, due to time, I had to cut out the three characters I was going to add to the table on the left side (Adam from Netherworld, Alvaro from Origin, and Scatto from Relic), as well as Alicia, from Alice, who was planned to burst through the upstairs doorway to slash the zombie.

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid the purpose of the contest is to support developers, not the developers of what is being recreated. I know you probably have a magnificent game going on, but for this contest, let's stick with original characters, RTP characters, or infamous community figures. uwu

Meh, I probably wouldn't have included any anyway. Last time I entered a contest with an established character (Mario sculpture), I got knocked down to 3rd place, losing points for unoriginality

@chorrol: References are fine.. but do you mean that you're going to build on top of a base? The only way that it would be qualified is if none of the base was showing. It sounds a little iffy, I would just steer clear of that idea, just to be safe!
