Yeah, I completely forgot about those he killed just to save his own sorry ass. I also liked it better when L was around. That's why the live action movies re-wrote the story and had it end with L writing his own name in the Death Note and killing himself in order to get Light caught.

The only thing that really pissed me off about Deathnote was the fact that the characters came up with complex convoluted plans in such little time. Or how they saw through someone's plan in mere seconds....it takes longer... >.>

Wow what's with all the hate in some of them spoilers?? O_O

In my opinion, the characters are all great and the show is great. This anime is one of my favorites, it was intense from beginning to end.
I also like the Manga a lot more, and had read the Manga after the show.

The show felt like it ended properly, I don't think the ending was "wrong" Light was a murderer just like Near said, he deserved what happened to him.
If Light had just stuck to killing criminals, but no, instead he went on killing police officers, FBI agents, and then even L and some of his OWN allies and friends. He was not a vigilante, he was the shows VILLAIN.
I also think the author of the show was brilliant.
Just talking about it now makes me want to go watch it again!
