![]() Ultimate Overlay Mapping Introduction This isn't just another Parallax Mapping Script, It fixes the Issues about Changing the Tints of the screen, I used to use a parallax script from someone and when I change the tint of the screen the Parallax Image isn't blending with the Screen's Tint, Shake Screen, Flash Screen also apply to this. So I decided to make my own Parallax Mapping Script. This also allows you to have control on which Overlay Images you wanted to display for certain maps. Also This is the Script that I am using for making my Maps in VS:ER. Features -4 Overlay Images can be used per map. This includes the Light, Shadow, Parallax and Ground Overlays -Display Certain Overlays in a certain map easily by configuring the switches in the script. -Supports Tint Screen, Flash Screen, Shake Screen. No More Issues for these. -Plug and Play! Layering Instruction ![]() Light Layer - Image MUST BE in .JPG format or it will not be displayed. It is Displayed in Positive Blend so Dark Colors will be removed and Light Colors will Prevail. -Used in Sunlight Stream and Other Light Effects Shadow Layer - Image MUST BE in .JPG format or it will not be displayed. It is Displayed in Negative Blend so the Colors will be Inverted and Light Colors will be Removed. -Used in Shadowing Effects Parallax Layer - Image MUST BE in .PNG format or it will not be displayed. It is Displayed in Normal Blend and Above Characters. -Used in Objects ABOVE Character Priority. Ground Layer - Image MUST BE in .PNG format or it will not be displayed. It is Displayed in Normal Blend and Below Characters. -Used in Objects BELOW Character Priority. Character Layer - The Character's Layer, and All the Events that was set as [Same as Characters] in Priority. Map Editor Layer - What was set in Map's Editor will be displayed at the bottom of all the Layers. But Tiles with [★] Passage will be displayed Above Ground Layer and Character Layer. Screenshot Or Rather a Sample Map from the Demo: Spoiler: Script Download This Demo: http://www.mediafire.com/?2dlor88mfdzbnbw Known Bugs none so far. Report the bugs you find here. Incompatibility Issue >> Smooth Scroll Script - - Overlay Images Acts weird when this script is used with the Overlay Script >> If you are using NeoSave system, and/or Omega7's achievement scripts. THIS script MUST be placed ABOVEthe two scripts, or weird errors occur. >> If you are using ModernAlgebra's Animated Parallax script, THIS script MUST be place UNDER it, or the GROUND layer will not appear. That explains why your style of mapping is different...,
(your maps are so..."advanced" XD) thanks for sharing Hanzo!. --- In the video tutorial, I began to suspect something like this ... This post has been edited by Chrono2118: Aug 1 2011, 05:05 PM -------------------- |

Same here, the line is
$OverlayMap = OverlayMap.new I took it out to see and I was able to transfer, but only one layer shows when I transfered. The ground layer. -------------------- |

Nice script Hanzo, but you are aware that Woratana's multiple fog script already allows you to do all of this and allows you to have unlimited overlay layers?
And it already works with tint/flash and everything. I figured out how to get this working for multiple maps, but you might need a little tutorial for that. Also you might get compatibility issues with modern algebra's Animated Parallax script. I think i'll be sticking with Multiple fogs and Animated parrallax for now, but Great Job! And a very impressive script! -------------------- |

Yep I think this is the fix ^.^ In that line change $OverlayMap = OverlayMap.new to $OverlayMap = Overlay_Map.new and done

That helped a bit but show layer didn't show?
@Ak47lol You can get the same effect with the multi fogs? It's from Woratana isn't it? -------------------- |

Sure, Wora's will do this, too, but Hanzo just made it a little more customizable and easier to implement. All you need to do is flip a switch once you have the overlays set up. Its pretty cool.

I every layer shows up on me... although I haven't tried the shadow layer o.o but with Overlay_Map all overlays appear to me... -------------------- |

I get an error when using the Transfer function. (changing maps) --------------------------- Yanfly Engine Melody --------------------------- Script 'HK - Ultimate Overlay Mapping' line 124: NameError occurred. uninitialized constant Scene_Map::OverlayMap --------------------------- OK --------------------------- Any help? Oops I got a Typo around that Part, I fixed it with the new Demo, Check it out. Same here, the line is $OverlayMap = OverlayMap.new I took it out to see and I was able to transfer, but only one layer shows when I transfered. The ground layer. The New Demo is Up Try it out and I added a Transfer map in that Demo. I don't think It's the Same ak47lol, the fact that it shows multiple 'fogs'. It doesn't allow you to display a Ground Layer isn't it? All layers that you can display is all Above Player? I'm not so sure, and Yet in that script you need to call it with a script or set it in the script. This one You just need the switch to be turned on and when it is turned on It will check a FileName designated to the MAPID for example you have the Switch ON and then you have light32 and par32, Then it will automatically displayed in MAPID:32 no need for script callouts. but really your choice :3 Yep I think this is the fix ^.^ In that line change $OverlayMap = OverlayMap.new to $OverlayMap = Overlay_Map.new and done Yup you got it right . That helped a bit but show layer didn't show? @Ak47lol You can get the same effect with the multi fogs? It's from Woratana isn't it? I don't think It has same effect. btw what do you mean by layer not showing? Sure, Wora's will do this, too, but Hanzo just made it a little more customizable and easier to implement. All you need to do is flip a switch once you have the overlays set up. Its pretty cool. Exactly. Great script. You're welcome NEW DEMO is UP for Fixing the Transfer Player. http://www.mediafire.com/?2dlor88mfdzbnbw Please Report any further BUG or INCOMPATIBILITY ISSUES. Enjoy. @Hanzo: Yes, you are right, your one has the great ability to add a ground layer too which multiple fogs dose not, which is really awesome!
I do all my ground stuff in the parallax image itself so I don't need a ground layer. But it's great that you added that. And yes, you have to set up the script and do a script call, which can be a pain, while yours does it all amazingly automatic. But with multiple fogs you can change the transparency and move the overlays in real time, which is a feature I really need. But like I said, amazing script! Thank you for sharing, and I'll definitely be using it in some projects. -------------------- |

lol sorry I was typing and dealing with the babies at the same time. I ment when I placed that snippet it didn't Show the Shadow layer, lol. Sorry. I will try the new demo. Thanks.
Edit Yeah the shadow layer isn't showing now, everything else is though. I placed them all as the same switch since I figured Shadows are going to be there. but they no appear? This post has been edited by neosky: Aug 2 2011, 12:26 AM -------------------- |
