.....Yeah I know, i kinda took timmah's title...., but
i couldn't think of anything dry.gif
anyhow, i've been making particle animations lately and
felt like sharing them with the community as i enjoy making them laugh.gif

Like i said in the topic description, i plan to add at least
one animation a day, to keep the topic updated wink.gif
The animations will be sorted under ''offensive & supportive''
to keep them organized.
(won't be so much now as i lost lot of them when my pc crashed dry.gif )

So with that let's begin

I will admit, the examples are rather nice. However, I think it would be nice to see a range of animations so that we have more to base our opinions on. So far you have mostly healing and support animations, but I personally would love to see what you can do with various elements (Fire Spells, Water Spells, Wind...and so on).

Other than that, good job! They do look very nice and I would love to see you keep doing these.

From one Particle Animator to another, I have to say that you're doing a pretty good job so far if you are just starting out. I have a few tips for you though:

1) Learn how to avoid boxing effects (Where the animation hits the boundaries of the 192x192 area and gets cut off. Shrinking animations, adjust movement paths (In the case of Aqua Burst), and adjusting the life of particles so that scattering one's don't live long enough to hit the edges are a few simple techniques for that.
2) Reduce the number of frames in your animations as much as you can. You can do this by setting the initial recording frame to a higher value so that late start animations won't record black nothingness for the first few frames. Your animation should always be a multiple of five in frames, but try to avoid long fades and get the most out of each frame. I used to have a lot of problems with this early on, but as I practiced a little bit, it became pretty each to get the most life out of each one... that tool will help you a lot.
3) Aim for frame counts of 25 or less. Most games automatically continue running after about 25 frames of animation, unless another source stops that from occurring. And players don't want to wait forever for one animation... it'll make them want to disable it, like summoning sequences in Final Fantasy 10.

You're off to a good start, but keep those things in mind on your later releases. Also, if you're going to have an identical thread name to mine, at least explain what REK is. I'm changing it otherwise. tongue.gif

@hyde: Healing animations are the easiest animations to make because you can really just do anything light based (So they double as holy spells), so most people tend to start there. Fire is a close second because it's wild nature lets you go nuts with it. smile.gif

Thank you very much for your large feedback, i shall
try and explain your ''points'' one by one tongue.gif
you can say i just started off, i have had the program for a long time
but never really used it.

(1)I can't agree more with you one this, i have indeed trouble keeping the
''smaller'' particles inside the (IMHO) limited animation box, i have actually a couple
of animations that where clearly hitting the boundery's so that's a reason
why those aren't uploaded.

(2)I've noticed this myself, not alot but sometimes i notice that the
animations start after 5 so called pre-frames.
nice trick to change the starting frame to solve this(wonder why i've never thought off this myself
though blink.gif )

(3)I actually try to limit my animation's toward the 20-25 frames but they mostly end
up as 30 frames cause otherwise i wouldn't get the full effect out of this.
But this is greatly reduceable with the tip you gave me(point 2) as it can take away
the first 5 black frames and use those to start the animation earlier.
i should ofcourse play around a bit with some functions to get it right, but heck, i'm
still learning^_^

As for the ''REK'' it stands for my full name, i actually forgot to put that in the
main post, sorry bout that.

Anyhow, thanks again for the feedback, i shall take it in mind
and play around a bit to see how i can apply it to my
animations wink.gif
