Abstract Download Button!

In this tutorial, I will show you how to make a download button.
Download buttons make links more stylish and also makes the link easy to see rather than small text.

First, you'll need a few things.

• Photoshop: Photoshop CS5 - I prefer the latest (CS5) but either one will do.
• This Stock Render: Beneath Me
• This Stock Render: Abstract Storm and Light
• This Photoshop Pattern: Techie - Put the pattern in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Presets\Patterns"

Procedure

1) Begin by making a standard sized canvas. I usually use 200x100.

2) Make a new layer by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+N and call it "border".

3) Select the "Background" layer and press CTRL+I to invert the color.
Inverting the color to black helps us see individual pixels rather than a white background.

4) Now, use the "Rectangular Marquee" tool to select everything except the edge pixels.
Then Right Click and select "Select Inverse"

5) Go back to the "border" layer and use the "Paint Bucket" tool to paint inside the selection you made.

After using the "Paint Bucket", you can invert the background back to white.
It should look like this when finished:

6) Open the "Beneath Me" stock in a new tab. Use the "Rectangular Marquee" tool
to select any part of the picture. Press CTRL+C to copy the selection.

7) Go back to the "Download Button" tab and press CTRL+V to paste the image as a new layer.

8) Repeat steps 6 and 7 with the "Abstract Storm and Light"stock.

.:NOTE:. If your images ever turn out to be too big, use the "Free Transform" tool to make them smaller.
The shortcut is CTRL+T. Holding down SHIFT while expanding or contracting the corners will keep the image in proportion.

9) Rename the "Beneath Me" layer to "base1" and the "Abstract Storm and Light" layer to "base2".
Then, change the layer effect of "base2" to "Screen".

10) Make a new layer and call it "bars".

11) With the "Paint Bucket", choose the "Pattern" setting and select the pattern "Techie".

12) Select the vertical lines and use it on the new "bars" layer.

13) Changed the layer effect on the "bars" layer to "Overlay".

14) Go back to the "border" layer and put these settings as its layer effect.

15)Add some text and then you're finished! Learn HERE on logo making and text effects!

Also, add a gradient and "RTP" text to make a separate download for games with RTP included.


16) Enter this code in your downloads section:

Where did you get the stock images?

Whenever I try to search for Beneath Me, I get no results. Just used Google Image search feature and found the source of Beneath Me is HERE. As for Abstract Storm and Light, once you Google it, there's a ton of sources.
