Good luck on this! I fully support this. I truely believe this will help many game makers (including myself) improve their games, and possibly get more completed projects out there! All and all this is good for people who don't to hardcore paralax EVERY single map, but still want the extra detail. Once again........
GOOD LUCK SIR -------------------- |

If any of you made tiles/graphics/objects that could fit well in a map, you can let Lunar be distributed with them:

Sometimes I feel like starting the editor over. I was developing other applications and I realized I got much better than when I begun with Lunar. If I started over I could make a much more efficient version... hmm...

The further you go, the better you get. If you have to start over, you'll look at everything and wonder why you did that, lol. In the end, it most likely be a lot better and worth the time taken. With that, take your time and have fun. You my man can do no wrong.

Keep programming well and carefully, with good comments, and things will fall into place =] Yeah, that's the thing. I didn't put comments and didn't plan the program's structure properly. Spaghetti code. It all works though. If I restarted, I could certainly do all I achieved so far much faster (it is much easier and quicker to do something you've done before). I realized this because I am doing another editor similar to Lunar, but simplified since it is for creating the platformer levels for my platforming games (Portal VX, LEO, Megaman ZX, and another game). Edit: Oh dear, I literally remade Lunar's collision editor system within half an hour in this new editor. |

If it is faster man I say go for it!
So how much you got done so far on it? Any way you would release a "trail" version like Ace did without all the features active? Just so we can get a taste of it. ..MegaMan ZX...?!?!!! I love the Megaman X Games especially the first. is that MegaMan for VX? -------------------- |

..MegaMan ZX...?!?!!! I love the Megaman X Games especially the first. is that MegaMan for VX? Megaman ZX are one of my favorite Megaman game branches. It was released for NDS. It continues the story set on Megaman Zero (1,2,3,4), and also has a sequel (Megaman ZX Advent). I wanted to make a sequel to ZX. |

Sometimes I feel like starting the editor over. I was developing other applications and I realized I got much better than when I begun with Lunar. If I started over I could make a much more efficient version... hmm... If it better improves the quality of the finished project then go right ahead. I never scripted but I have worked on games in the past, Mainly making maps for Star wars Battle Front 2 with a community group that I use to be a part of. I couldn't tell you how many times We completely scratched a map and started over with the similar theme in mind because the original project was completely unorganized. I know making maps with a map editor isn't the same as writing codes, but the concept of design is the same in the fact that a remastered version of the product made before it was finished was generally better. I'll support this either way you go, its just too awesome of an idea to ignore! This post has been edited by shinraSOLDIER77: Apr 16 2012, 04:28 PM -------------------- |

This is amazing, Omegas. I think you've really out-done yourself with this project. I hope to see this finish one day.
I do have a suggestion for this program. Why not add a way to import your RPG Maker maps into Lunar Map Editor to make changes to them, add more detail, etc. |

Will there be an option to create a big image also? Also, I agree with the above poster, you should include a way to import VX maps.

Yes, importing pre made maps would be a great feature. When can we expect a first public release?

Someone suggested to convert this into a whole new RPGMaker with other features suggested by the community what do you think?
Don't worry, even if the above suggestion is rejected, the map editor remains alive. I'm sorry for the absence. Thank you for your continued support. -------------------- ![]() |

I personally think it's a great idea, assuming that you plan to build it from the ground up so that EB doesn't try to say you've ripped off their code. EB has gotten better with Ace, but they still fail to take a lot of things into account. While I'm fine with the default battle system since it's easier to upgrade with a front-view than a side-view, there's a lot of things they choose to ignore, a few of them being:
1. A better mapping system 2. Event collision 3. A proper text editor (that wraps text and resizes the window based upon lines of text) 4. Default skills (Reflect, Steal) 5. A better Weapon/Item scope (select which item to use on which character, make weapons that can hit all enemies) That's just a few things that I think would be a nice touch, and having a bit of competition could drive EB to try harder or even lower their cost. On the other hand, scripts are available that do the things I mentioned, and the resources are already packed with the maker. If this were made into a new maker, you'd have to hire artists that can create audio, tiles, sprites, etc. for it. Personally, taking the time to create this into a new maker may pay off in the long run. While everybody is scrambling to have this added for VX, doing so will only have about as much (maybe a bit more) impact that SwapXT had. It will be the big hype for awhile, and then it'll fade away once EB decides to do something similar in it's new maker. But if this were made as an equivalent to RPG Maker, from the ground up, while much more time consuming, it might have a larger impact for a long time to come, because now we're talking about the birth of a new game-programming series, vs just an add-on to one that's been in existence for awhile. |
