I was wondering if there is a way i can have my player hold is equipped weapon and if there is how?

What I'm doing now with the game I'm doing is having a set of sprites with particular clothes and shields for the same chracter, then I set up a common event that changes the character's sprite based on the tunic and shield my character has equipped. I have 3 tunics nd 3 different shields, so there's not that much variety. Hope this helps!

Edit: So i got it so the graphic changed but now my player wont move.
