RMVX is a single player engine by default, but with scripting you can change that (although no such scripts have been made for VX, as far as I know). You're probably better off to use a different game maker.

I'd second Equinox's opinion: RPG Maker isn't built for multiplayer. Even with a script, it's likely to be clunky, because a lot of the data-handing functions for a truly 'online' game aren't coded into RPG Maker. If you wanted a two-player game, that's a bit more doable -- I'm fairly certain that it's just a matter of key-mapping, which isn't too hard if you have a good grasp of the basics.
