This is a great idea. Gets people who have grandiose ideas (like me) to halt for a minute and start on something small.

Absolutely A+++ work! I just got VX, and it's been years since the last time I used a proper RPG maker. 3, I believe was the last version I used. So yeah, it's been awhile. This is a great way to get used to the new system. Danke!

Hey I just wanted to say this was a very helpful tutorial. After getting to the end I was able to figure out the rest. Get the sword, lime joins party, kill ogre.
But there is one thing I found (aside from a few small grammatical errors). It took me a few times test playing to realize this... but the sword Gladius doesn't make your main character, Salazar, go berserk. I followed the tut step by step, even going back and changing/trying new things. Alas, I'm still able to select items and use them and skills in battle, although there aren't any skills to select I added some to see if it was possible. Seeing on how I'm a newbie (maybe a n008 that's up for you to decide) I don't know what else to do. I'd add screens of my items, skills, and states... but they'd just look the same as the ones you have in the tut. Maybe you forgot a step in the tut, or maybe I am a noob... Once again, thanks for the easy to follow great tutorial, it's taught me a lot in a short amount of time. You should make a sequel covering variables and special effects and such.

looks like a really good guide
There's a mistake though. In the beginning, you said "In this guide we’ll be creating together, step by step, one mini-RPG. Attached to this guide you should have also got the RPG Maker VX project so you can take a look if you ever get lost.", but I can't find anything other than this PDF... -------------------- |

Hi, great tutorial!
By the way, I know this is probably a really stupid question, but I'm a real beginner... I'm not sure if it's covered in the tute or not, but does anyone know what program to use to add a tileset to the main tileset of the VX game, and how to do it? I can't seem to find the right program or am able to find how to actually add it on... Sorry if this is a really stupid question and I posted it in the wrong section! |

You can use any graphics editor to edit the tilesets. MSPaint which you already have, or for some more power you can get Paint.NET or GIMP (both free).Start by adding tiles to TileE as that is what it was meant for, but you can replace any of them.

Thanks a lot! But one more thing, where do I find the tileset to edit? It's not as simple as opening up the RTP in the program files of the RM2K and RM2K3... The files don't seem to be able to open with any editing programs... Sorry, I must be missing something really simple here! |

Jammer, thank you so much for taking the time to explain it to me in layman's terms... I really am hopeless when it comes to these things!
I'll definitely be studying the tute now! |
