Full Version: How to save your project outside of RPG Maker VX
RPG Maker VX Community > RPG Maker VX > RPG Maker VX General Discussion
Elemental Crisis
For those of you that don't already know there is a way to save your project allowing you to transfer your game to others. By following these simple steps you can send your game to your friends so they can play!

Notes:
- If you've already started a project and DELETED the 3 SAMPLE MAPS then you will be unable to transfer your game. You can edit them all you want but if you delete them you will get an error when trying to play your game outside RPG Maker VX.
- Make sure you remember what the project number is when you first clicked on "New Project".

Alright, now for the tutorial.
  1. Assuming you've finished your game do ONE file look through of everything as you will be UNABLE to go back and change anything once were done.
  2. If your Satisfied with everything click the "Test Play" button and if asked to save select "Yes". Now either Alt-Tab or Alt-Escape out of the test play window. You need to have the "Test Play" running in order for this to work.
  3. Proceed to your save directory which by default is "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\My Documents\RPGVX".
  4. Select the project folder containing your data and either zip it up or rar it up. Don't worry about looking for the resources as their all contained in your project folder.
  5. Once down you can exit out of the "Test Play" and RPG Maker VX, you will notice that when you quit RPG Maker VX your project folder is deleted but lucky for you you have it zipped/rared up.
Congrats! Your done and you can now send your game to anyone you would like!

Additional Notes:
- You can open up "Game.ini" with notepad and where you see "Title=X" where X is your games name. You can change the name to something else, this doesn't change the name in-game just on the window.
- Right now you will have to bear with the Japaneses menus during game play but soon I will be releasing the translated script data.

Files Included In The RAR:

Project Folder (Contains 15 Folders and 115 Files)
README.TXT

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Release Notes:

This is a completely translated project folder expect for the "Vocab" section the Scripts. I'm gonna have to re-install XP to translate this so it will be a few days. Next release will be a final release.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Update Information:

12/21/2007
- Inital translation release.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Install Instructions:

1. Click "Create New Project" in RPG Maker VX, make sure to remember the project number.
2. Once done locate the project folder which by default is "C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\My Documents\RPGVX".
3. Extract the "Project.rar" file into the project folder.
4. Delete the current project folder (The one I asked you to remember) and then rename "Project" to "ProjectX" where "X" is the current projects number that you were asked to remember.
5. So if I created a new project and it was "Project1" I would go to the project folder and delete "Project1". I then would rename "Project" which I got from the "Project.rar" file to "Project1".
6. To confirm that it worked select "Test Play", if you see an english menu then it worked!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Troubleshooting:

Q: How come everything still shows up in Japanese in RPG Maker VX but when I test play its in english?
A: Because the scripts are preloaded when you create a new project they wont change in RPG Maker VX. A refresh command might fix it but I dont know RGSS so I cant test this. If you know RGSS or know someone who does ask them about this and let me know the results.

Hello,

It's so much simply.
1 - Done your project
2 - Try it
3 - Close the game window
4 - Press Ctrl + alt + suppr > delete the rmvx program
5 - Delete it again, when the "want to exit program" screen is drow.

You can change the scripts with rmxp, just change the extend .rvdata to .rxdata, and set it on a rmxp project.

What are you talking about? What you're saying to do does not sound like what EC has added here. Plus, it's hard to understand what you are really saying to do.
Lordryk
Sorry, I'm french.

In fact, you can kick the program with ctrl alt delete. You have not to zip the project folder. (it's much simply than zipping)

Second, you can change the data's file, .rvdata and .rxdata have got the same encoding.

Excuse my poor english smile.gif
